Windows server stuck checking for updates

Hi,

I’m having issues with the auto update of my windows server. It’s stuck saying “checking for
updates” permanently when viewing it on the general settings. It’s version is 1.14.1.5488.

I believe they have temporarily paused the auto-update feature, for reasons unknown.

Oh I didn’t realise, thank you Dave! Is there any way to update manually? I was going to just download the latest version and install over the top of my current install, but was worried I would lose all my database/metadata/play state etc.

Yes, download, stop PMS, install, and restart PMS.

I’ve been having the same issue on both my windows & netgear NAS PMS’s. since the end of last week.

I’ve now noticed that the downloads for PMS are not available. The client software still seems to be there. Does anyone know what’s going on?

What do you mean by this, precisely? https://plex.tv/downloads gives me:

I’m using https://www.plex.tv/en-gb/media-server-downloads/#plex-media-server and get “Sorry, we can’t retrieve downloads at this time, please return later.”

Trying your url seems to redirect to https://www.plex.tv/en-gb/media-server-downloads/?langr=1 with the same failure.

Is this an issue in the uk?

Thanks darcilicious, I downloaded, closed plex, installed, and reopened and now am all set up with the latest version!

Paul it’s not an issue with being in the UK, downloads are fine there.

I’m really confused now…

Just tried to VPN to the US, and it still fails (I get the en-gb in the url) However, if I try using chrome with or without VPN it works (no en-gb) in URL, but not in edge.

Both of these URLs work fine for me (US).

What browser are you using? Do you have any ad-blocking extensions? Can you try a different browser?

Yeah Edge isn’t working for me too Paul. And that’s without any extensions installed on it.
Chrome is fine. :slight_smile:

I’ve manually downloaded 1.15 and everything looks ok, software checks are working.

The Netgear upgrade was a bit scary, different named files and it reported it would remove Plex PMS “do you want to continue?” I said “y” and it went fine. Usually it just upgrades, guess it maybe as its going from 1.14 to 1.15.

Any idea whats changes in 1.15? It usually tells you on a pop up when the upgrade notification appears.
