If you have been reading, you must have also come across the solution.
I have exactly the same issue on my UA55D8000YV…followed the exact instructions as provided on this forum yet can’t login. Ironically it is working perfectly on my other Samsung TV which uses a newer version of the app.
Any additional hints?? The TV doesn’t even recognise the server…

There is nothing ironic about it… The issue only affects 2010 and 2011 models.

You will still have to make sure these things are ok.
Orca has provided a solution which should work, follow the instructions step by step.

Unfortunately, I’m having the exact same issue on my PS50C6970: greyed out login fields and “login failed”. This happens both in the old app store version and in the new 1.019 version. The only difference between the versions being that the new one takes longer to show “login failed”.
I have followed the instructions by the letter, even tried a factory reset of the whole TV. I’ve read many threads here, the only suggested solution is to “follow the instructions”, which I have done now several times.
Can I maybe hard-code my login information somewhere in the program before doing the developer install?
The fact that the update cannot be rolled out automatically is not good enough.
These devices are not mobile phones that may cost a few hundred dollars. My parents 60" Samsung has this same problem and cost in excess of $3,000. If the app was broken, then it should be fixed. Simple as that.
It’s not like we bought a computer back in 2000 and are using IE6 and win XP! We bought a TV only a few years ago and we expect the apps to be in working condition especially if it’s downloadable like an Android App.
@Orca, please let me know who I have to chase up for further action so that other people can get this working (there’s heaps on this thread). Surely, these forums cannot be the only avenue for addressing issues. As a paying customer, I should be able to speak to someone and get proper help…
Orca, I followed your instructions to a T. The PIN goes through, it shows the “sign out” with the orange dot to the right. What it doesn’t do is show my username, email or that i have a Plex Pass. Because of this, it is not actually logging me into Plex. So I am not able to connect to my local server.
I have a UN55D8000 2011 model
What else can be done? Been using your amazing app on this TV for 2 yrs and bought another Sammy for the bedroom. That one uses the newer version so it is fine.
Any ideas?
Thanks

Unfortunately it isn’t simple at all. The only people you can contact is Samsung. It is they who give their TV’s a three year life span. Despite the fact that Orca no longer supports 2010 & 2011 models, he has been good enough to create a fix. It’s Samsung who will not roll out that fix for models older than 3 years.
Thanks Dave
I’m glad that @Orca is trying to help. Sorry if it sounds like I’m venting towards him. But I want to figure out who is preventing this.
If it’s Samsung, then I’m happy to raise it with them. Wish me luck!

If I were to perform a factory reset should that theoretically wipe out the stored password? Or is the password being stored on a Samsung server somewhere, which i would certainly hope it isn’t.
Thanks

We store no passwords, but the token you got from Plex.tv to login might be expired.
If you uninstall the app, then power down the TV for a minute, then everything should be deleted and you can re-install the app.

I tried that, even left the TV off for 30+ minutes. That’s why I think the password is stored somewhere on the TV itself and am really thinking about doing a factory reset. I will try it and post my results.
Thanks, really love the app and want it back to how it was before the Plex hack…
Larry
I did the factory reset. It actually only resets the TV settings. It doesn’t uninstall any apps that are installed on the TV. I had already uninstalled Plex, but had YouTube installed and expected it to get uninstalled… it didn’t.
I then left the TV off for over an hour. Installed Plex again. It asks me to “Enter Plex Service ID and Password”. I do this, it keeps giving me the following error: “accountname” Account information is not found. The account info I am entering is 100% correct as I can use it to sign into any other device without issue.
Not getting this…
Decided to throw caution to the wind and got into Service Menu and did the factory reset from there. That seems to have actually wiped the TV. When I got it turned back on it was more than the basics that needed to be reset. Unfortunately it also “disabled” my keyboard remote and I can’t figure out how to enter my password with the number keys. lol I am really hoping this did what I needed it to do. Working on reenabling the qwerty remote…
Larry
I still cannot get this to work. Neither wiping the TV back to factory settings or even using Orca’s fix seems to be working for me. I got my QWERTY remote working again, needed to get that back to factory settings too.
Did anyone get Orca’s fix working for them? This password is saved somewhere. Maybe it’s saved at Plex which is preventing me from updating it?
Very, very frustrating and buying a new TV at this point is not an option.
Larry
Sorry for “spamming” this thread but I FINALLY got Plex working again on my Sammy! It isn’t the Samsung version, it is @Orca ver that he released for us to install via Sammy Widgets. Thanks for that.
I am guessing by wiping and resetting my TV it allowed this to finally also work. Going to leave well enough alone.

I have installed the version 1.019 with sammy widget (I follow instructions of @Orca ). And still not work.
Username and Email are always not selectable so I can’t connect to my server…
Anyone have a TRUE solution ?
(Sorry for my english…)

Yes, I had the same issue and was able to get it resolved. I ended up having to get into the Service Menu and perform a factory reset from there. Once I did that I was then able get the 1.019 ver via sammy widgets working. I didn’t have any custom settings so I didn’t bother to write any settings down, so keep in mind you will lose all settings.

The true solution is that you don’t need to enter any username or password, something you would have known if you had read the manual on how the PIN login procedure works. Link below.
