I’ve had the plex app working on my Samsung TV on local network for a long time. Last night when I tried opening it, it was hanging for way too long.
So I downloaded a new version of plex from Smart Hub, and the “new” one doens’t allow me to LOGIN!!!
It gives me two options, manual setup or link with an existing account. When I click the account option, it automatically navigates to the System menu BUT, login fails because obviously no one supplied the username and password.
I remember the first time over a year I had to go to https://plex.tv/pin and enter the pin number and that’s how it got linked. Now, it doesn’t make any sense!
I have installed the APP again and now it’s working, so that’s not the problem anymore. But I cannot login and associate my account with the Samsung TV anymore because the username and password fields in the SYstem menu are not enabled (I cannot input my username and password in to the TV Plex APP).
Now, I just went and downloaded again and re-installed and I can now see options in Smart Hub:
Register Account (to use all features)
Run Now
So when I clicked on register account, it’s asking my for my Plex Service ID. What the hells is this? I tried both my username, email and password but they are not working there…
Sounds like something the plex team may need to investigate since problems seem to occur after an update…
Anyways you might want to post this in the Feature/Bug Forums list so it has visibility there as well (or ask the topic to be moved if that is the way its done). Ok, so manual setup was my solution by supplying my local plex server IP 192.1.6.1.2 IP with 32400 port number.
This initially didn’t work for me because it was saying that authentication failed. Then I realised that recently I put a PIN on my user account which meant that the server required authentication and there’s no way to put in that PIN on the TV.
So, I went in to my account, clicked settings=> Users => clicked on that little green icon next to my name, supplied by pin number, and clicked REMOVE. Now, there is no more PIN, and I connected to the server successfully.
But I see this as temporary because ideally I wanted to connect to my account.

I did the same and it works fine but if you look into your account settings you are still not logged in, right?
Same issue for my Dad’s TV. Samsung UE40D700 Plex version 1.016
No app update but the plex app failed to work for no reason, deleted and reinstalled now impossible to input any details in the plex account info the fields are just not selectable.
Feels like Samsung changed something and broke it.
I have the same problem, my Samsung TV decided it needed to delete the plex app, I then downloaded it again only to find I was unable to login to my account on the tv for the plex plus features. I too had to disable my pin access on the server account and log in manually. Hope plex sorts it soon.
Getting exactly the same thing here, unable to add my login details. Removed and reinstalled the app, now unable to specify my login details. Was able to manually add the server as a work around, but would love to be able to login to my account.
doesnt seem like were gonna get a fix soon ;\ orca wrote a “fix” which doesnt fix anything, simple fact is, people have changed passwords now, but the app is completely broke , you cannot sign into your accounts what so ever, theres a workaround to get on your server yes… but signing into an account is now impossible

I’ve been trying to get the wife to agree to a new TV, so we can keep up to date. My 2011 D8000 was the bee’s knees in it’s payday, but not now I suppose.

I try your version but is it the same ‘sing in to your plex account’ result login failed.
In menu system it is impossible to enter Username an Email ???
i try to add server manually doesn’t work too.
I do this.
-reset plex password account
-reconnect plex server
-disable secured connections on server
-reset TV smart hub
-reinstall plex app.
but after install plex in TV i have 3 choice 1-register account, 2-execut now, or 3- ok. i use register account but we have message not found account. i try execut now and i have message login fail.
the problemme is onI my samsung UN55D7000LFXZA plex ver. 1.016
my other samsung TV UN32EH5300 work fine. plex ver.2.001
ok after 7 hours i retry register and work 1 time. I activated on plex.tv/pin and i access to my server
but after exit aps and restart we have message Connexion… and nothing
