It affects this anime with german metadata: https://thetvdb.com/series/mushi-shi/episodes/4834043
the episode 2 of season 0 / specials is called: “Dornenpfad (1)”
but plex does name this episode: “Glockentröpfchen”
I do have set the episode ordering to TVDB(aired)
I do not understand where this is coming from. Even TMDB names this episode “Dornenpfad (1)” in its database. So why does plex use a wrong name for the episode?
Where has the episode ordering been set? In the properties of the library, or in the properties of this particular show?
If the former, try setting it additionally in the show, then refresh metadata.
Actually it is one file containing two episodes: naming scheme s00e02-e03 but also naming it explicitly e02 and others did not produce the expected behavior. Yes it is also set explicitly in the show
I’ve recreated the issue in my own library.
I have mkv files, so embedded metadata cannot be the cause.
It looks like e02 and e04 are getting the same episode metadata – but only if metadata language has been set to German.
I will report this to the right person.
This is a mess.
The order of the specials is very different on TheTVDB and TheMovieDB.
And some genius has put the German translation for Drops of Bells onto the episode Path of Thorns on TMDB.
On top of that, the release dates are locked on TMDB, so any hope to resolve this are slim unless one engages with TMDB admins in their forums.
The pragmatic solution is to copy/paste the right title and description and lock the fields in Plex.
