No I think this plex upgrade is even worse than windows 8 at least with that disaster I was able to install a program that returned the start menu and made windows 8 more like windows 7.

I honestly cannot remember the last time a Plex update actually improved the user experience. Maybe the Skip Intro feature in 2020. But since then each update simply makes previously working features stop working, or become buggy with a required undocumented “knack” I’ll find on a forum as a workaround.
It’s a shame because there was once a time where Plex appeared to be the only platform that was consistently improving the user experience and adding game changing features for their users.

You’re thinking of windows 8.1. The backlash against Windows 8 was so strong they released that 6 months later.

I think this is my first post on this forum. I came on here to complain as well. The new Roku API is horrific. I’ve been a loyal Plex user for 8 years, but if they don’t roll this back, I’m going to have to find an alternative. Absolutely unusable garbage UI.

Yes the new GUI does suck. I have been a full licensed user for more than a decade now. Plex GUI did change a bit, but not that bad. I really don’t see why they keep pushing people to watch their online stuff. I do not care about it. I just want the old GUI back, And they should allow their customer to have that option. They don’t even allow to chose “Browse/List View” as standard display as we asked numerous times, they keep pushing the “Recommended View” I am very frustrated now. Jellyfin seems to be the answer to all my frustrations right now.

Yea it could not even migrate the pinned items properly from the OLD UI. I have 2 plex servers one is portable for travels, and the other is fixed. At home I hide the ones that travels hidden on ROKU. But after migration that server was made the default and was showing me its home. I want no suggestions, no to watchlist, no showing now I just want the libraries from the server I want to use. IF you are going to fix something and have the need to do dev work. Makes the server more manageable from Roku bring in some of the web features or desktop features in.

So did Plex hire Julie Felss Masino from Cracker Barrel to redo their app? Thanks for pissing off all our wives, Plex! Sorry your frantic attempts to cram commercial-laden content down our collective throats is not working out for Kliener Perkins and Intercap but we paid for your product to get away from that crap! Every one of us with a smart TV or streaming device are already inundated with the same exact streaming sources from the OEM also desperate to mollify their own vicious venture capitalists. We don’t need or want it from Plex as well.
Just let us watch our own content!

I don’t know if it’s just me but it’s beyond bat ui…it doesn’t work! can’t watch live channels, can’t change any settings, just plan old doesn’t work!! does anyone actually test this? are people getting paid for this garbage?

They did consider it but their only goal was to make it easier to watch content they get paid for and harder to watch content you own. Based on their goals it is a very successful update.

To find a playlist you have to to the library (movies, tv shows, etc), open the library, go all the way over to the left and then down to the hamburger symbol. There are the playlists - totally a waste of time and effort to have created them.
They need to revert to the old UI.

Very disappointing. Way too large of a change. There is nothing like so far about the new interface. Why break something that was working very well? Navigating with just the arrow keys was great but now the back button has to be used? And NOBODY likes the menu at the top.
First thing I did was to disable “spring loading”.
Put it back. This is crap. Nobody asked for it. Nobody wants it.
