Assistance Needed – Xbox Plex App Error
Hello,
I am experiencing an ongoing error when trying to use Plex on my Xbox, and I’d like to provide you with full context on my setup and the troubleshooting I’ve already completed.
It had been playing fine with no issues until about a week ago. It also crashes on 3 xboxs.
Network / Device Setup:

Router: TP-Link BE9300, DHCP enabled

Plex Media Server: Nvidia Shield Pro (main host)

External Storage: Plex metadata on USB drive attached to Shield

NAS Devices: WD EX2 Ultra (6TB) and WD Home (6TB)

Clients: Xbox, Windows Plex App, Mobile Apps, Smart TV apps
Troubleshooting Completed:

Verified Plex Media Server is updated (currently on version 1.42.1.10060)

Disabled drive sleep on the Shield and external USB

Confirmed that Plex libraries are accessible and metadata loads

Moved Plex metadata location to USB (instead of internal Shield storage)

Checked Shield storage levels and cleared cache where possible

Tested direct play vs. transcoding settings

Confirmed that other clients (PC, Mobile, TV) stream correctly from the server

Tried removing and reinstalling Plex app on Xbox

Confirmed network connectivity and ran Xbox network speed tests

Disabled “drive sleep” features to avoid disconnects
