I have been dealing with an issue on my xbox one for the last few updates where it will often play video and after 10-15 seconds the video will freeze, audio will continue for a second, and then my xbox hard freezes. and just turns off. Plex works 100% without issues on all my other clients and this wasn't an issue back a few versions ago when the software first came out. I have regularly updated both my PMS on windows 8.1 and the plex app on my xbox one. The issue is intermittent (it usually occurs but sometimes I can watch a few episodes on the xbox without it happening).
I have attached a video of the issue. I have periodically searched for solutions and I have seen some other threads on this which I have listed below:
Please could you PM me your console ID so we can send it on to MS? Our app shouldn't be able to turn off your xb1, and we have a handful of reports of this that we're chatting to MS about.
You can find it in settings -> system -> console info > ConsoleID
I'll shoot this to you when I get home from work tonight. I own a second xbox one that I never try to use plex on so I can see if I have the same issue with that one as well.
Other than PM'ing me your console ID right now, I'm afraid not. When you do send the console ID, the rough time (and timezone!) and date would be useful, since it will involve MS going through logs to see if your console reported anything.
I sent it to you before I sent that. I can send it again if you would like. The issue went away for a week or two, during which I enjoyed your amazing plex for Xbox one app. It has come back with a vengeance though
I sent my console ID but haven't heard anything about why this is happening. It crashed about 4 or 5 times last Saturday. So it's basically unusable on my Xbox One. So I tried it out on my PS4. Come to find out Plex has a buffering issue there. So I revert back to the Plex app on my Samsung tv (that is free btw) and zero issues.
I am having the same exact issue. Purchased plex pass and unable to use this on my Xbox One recently. I have to use it on my other devices until this is fixed.
Today I changed my network connection from wired to wireless (as a test for another problem) and then when watching the movie the crash happened twice. (This was the first movie I watch with WLan)
I immidiately changed back to wired connection, restarted the console and resumed my movie without any problems.
So there is definitely a problem which only occury when watching via wlan.
I am on ethernet and the problem still exists. After the Xbox shuts off, has anyone tried to turn the Xbox back on and resume? Or does it shut off again?
