Xbox One New Update - dimming during video play

Just FYI,

Currently die preview and stock Firmware is the same.

The latest preview firmware was rolled out to everybody 4-5 days ago.

So this cannot be the problem.

Hard reset fixed for me as above.

dimming then black issues:

Kintec system

Stock

First video played fine.

Second video had the issue waggle joystick current solution.

Will hard reset once partner finishes her show.

edit: xbox one update yesterday, please update today.

Sam here. It starts to dimm a bit first and after 2/3 minutes all screen is black... audio continues to play. All latest versions (server, player..), no beta, no kinect.

All after yesterday's update. I will try the hard reset now..

Same here screen goes black(no signal reported on tv(samsung) but audio(optical) continues

I have to reset the xbox to get the dash back :¬(

Odd, I downloaded the update yesterday and didn't have this issue at all after several hours of watching video.

Today, its started dimming. If it helps, I have Kinect and I'm in the Preview Dash program.

Same issue.

Kinect

Latest stock dash.

Whilst playing movies it dims after 2, out after 5.

Seems to have been fixed by a hard reboot.

hard reset didn't fix for me :( any help

Same here - Latest firmware (non preview program), latest plex app, with Kinect,  Screen dims, then goes black (audio continues).  Tried a hard reset with no avail.  Only happening since the latest plex update.

thanks in advance,

When you restart your xbox one the first video will play fine. The second will have the dim-issue again. First the screen will dimm, this will play for a couple minutes and than boom back screen..  video keeps playing though. Stop playback, resume and you can watch for about 10 minutes again before the same happens again.

After a Hard reset I managed to watch all evening with out dim/black problem but I am not convinced its gone for good :¬)

Having the same issue believe everything is upto date. Tried a hard reset but that didn’t fix the issue.

Anyone have anything else to try?

Admin: Change topic to "December 2014 update screen dimming"

Hi

As mentioned above, I had the same problem: The screen would dim after 2 - 3 minutes then go completely black with just sound after 20 - 30 minutes.

I found that doing a FULL hard reset worked for me:

1. Turn off the Xbox One by holding down the power button for 10 seconds.

2. Unplug the power lead from the back of the Xbox.

3. After 2 minutes plug the power lead back in.

4. Wait 10 seconds then start the Xbox by pressing the power button or the Menu button on a controller.

5. After the full boot up animation has finished then launch the Plex app.

(Also helps to update to latest version: Version 0.9.11.5)

All was fine for me after that. Not sure why a screen saver function was added in the first place that can't be disabled, but anyway this seems to be a work around.

Hope it works for others.

same for me no kinnect, screen dims after a few minutes and then a while after that screen goes black and audio continues playing very annoying needs sorting

I have watched two movies and a tv show after doing a hard reboot and this problem has not popped back up again. I do have Kinect.

Same problem here. Started after update. I do have a kinect system. Problem went away after hard reset, however I rearranged some thing on my system and had to unplug the Xbox. Now the problem is back again. Trying another hard reset (with button). Will report back if that works again.

*** No good. The dimming is back and constant now. I must hit a button every 3 mins or so to keep the picture correct.  :-(   ***

Mmm the dimming is back again today. I have kinect. On latest update. I watched a lot of stuff yesterday and didn’t happen at all.

Be a good idea if we could get a dimming option thrown in, so we can select after how long it dims.( I know the current issue isn’t intended)

Kinect system here non-preview user.

I had the issue Friday and hard reboot after seeing the suggestion here. The problem went away for the remainder of the evening but at some point between then and Sunday evening the problem has returned.

The device is on "instant-on" and never was without power or anything for that period of time. It just came back.
