I had my Xbox One connected to WiFi and now it is wired to the same router my iMac is off of after experience this still unresolved error. I have version 0.9.10.3 of Plex Server, my iPad finds the local server fine but the Xbox one does not see it at all.
I've tried deleting the Plex app, signing out, but nothing.
I used to use SofaPlay with my Xbox One but one day it just stopped working. Not sure why, thought it was possibly the Yosemite beta. I'm sure sure what the issue with Plex now not working is considering my iPad and Roku pick up the server just fine. Any trouble shooting I can do?
That's correct - currently you need to have connected your server to plex.tv. I've added a part to the FAQ with instructions -
'The Xbox One application currently only displays published servers. You can check if your server should be visible to the application by visiting https://plex.tv/servers - if you don't see your server here then please make sure you've correctly connected your server to plex,tv - https://support.plex...icles/200484543'

Are there plans to make it work with local servers rather than published?

Even local servers have to be published. Discovery on a local network is fraught with peril and the XB1 app doesn't have the ability to do broadcast or multicast.

only up until having to use the xbox one have i had to actually add my library onto the Plex website......my setup before was that my macbook was my PMS and read files from my local nas drive...i then had the LG app for my tv that picked up all my information on my local network. also plex server worked on the Media player preview app on the xbox. So why is it now i have to do this for the xbox one app...surely what i have been using before has all been a local setup ...rather than the new setup sounds to me more labor intensive and would use alot of my internet bandwith.
The server discovery will go via the internet, but streaming of your content will still happen locally if PMS and the xbox are on the same network. So no eating up of your internet bandwidth.

Thanks Dom... That what i wanted to clear up....ill have another reboot of everything and see if it kicks it in gear and reduces the stuttering on my xbox app :)
