Xbox one plex stops playing after 30 minutes

Pretty frustrating not to get any answers from Plex on this.

Same with unexpected error.

Its quite frustrating.

Wired, brand new xbox one, and everything else works fine. (web, other pc, samsung tv etc)

Only so many things you can tweak and alter, nothing seems to help

I believe I solved the problem for my setup.

I have a very small SSD drive for by C:\ drive.

I thought I had a enough room but some of my larger files have to be transcoded to play on the xbox one. When this was happening the temporary transcode file was running the hard disk space down to nothing and it would start choking on the transcode causing the pausing on the xbox one.

So I move the temporary transcoding file to another hard disk with more space via the plex transcode settings. Seems to solved the problem now my large files play without a problem on the xbox one.

May not be everyones issue but it was mine.

I seem to have fixed this.

I didn't have auto updates turned on for the Plex server. Clicked on the 'check for updates' button the other day to find there was one available. After updating to the latest server software, I have not had any stopping, even with Transcoding set to the highest setting.

Fingers crossed this is now sorted for me!

I tried again today and same issue after server update.

Can tolerate the bugs if it weren't for the fact that we are paying for Plex Pass to access this app.  Hopefully Plex can identify the issue soon, although it doesn't even seem like this is on their radar.

For the longest time my xbox one was the only device on my network that didn’t see my PMS. The last update however, seemed to magically fix that, unfortunately it brought upon this error. My desktop running this server is an absolute leviathan for something as simple as transcoding. My OS disk is 2 striped intel 530 series SSDs, so it isn’t disk throughput or CPU slowness. I’ve paid $20 now for the luxury of the xbone app only to have it freeze and shutdown 3 times on the same file that’s played on 2 different rokus and my phone without issue. Hopefully an update comes along for the app.

Suggestion:  XB1 Plex is able to report any errors from the Plex Media Server when a playback is unexpectedly terminated.

eg.

Playback unexpectedly stopped.

Plex Media Server reported:

Transcoder problem: No disk space on Drive C for transcoding

Shows the last 200 lines of the PMS log.

When you post empty posts like "I'm getting this error, I'm paying for a premium service, fix this!!!" with no kind of logs, it defeats the purpose and it just makes it seem like you are moaning.

Post Plex Media Server logs. Full ones. There are a million different reasons why this could happen. The majority of people have 0 issues using this software. I understand it's frustrating, but it's like going into a car repair shop and saying "FIX MY CAR!!" without telling them the issue.

I posted my logs a page back

You didn't post nearly enough, that is a small snippet that shows nothing.

Just wow.

His post was this:

I don't get any 'unknown error', video just freezes which requires me to stop, then press play again from menu screen, and resume from the same spot.

Will get through 20-30 mins into a movie and it comes up, then shorter increments, even as short as every 2 mins of freezing.  I wrote down the times as they happened to try and isolate in the log, here is an example:

That's nothing?

You didn't post nearly enough, that is a small snippet that shows nothing.

How does this show nothing? I pinpointed the time the error occurred, and made sure I captured the associated entry in the log.  What else do you want me to provide?

I would somewhat understand your apologizing for Plex if they were active and responsive in this thread, however, they are not.

Not sure why no response. My Roku, Chromecast, Galaxy Note3, iPad 1 (for Christ’s sake!) and iPad Mini all work exceedingly well with Plex, but for some reason, I experience stuttering, freezing issues on XBox One.

I seem to have fixed this.

^^^ Seems I was too quick to think this issue was sorted out, it isn't. Watched a few movies over the last couple of weeks, still getting 20-30 mins then having to back out and resume to fix it (for another 20-30 mins)

Funnily enough, my sons Xbox One can stream from my sever no problem at all, so it's an issue with my Xbox One, only difference between his and mine, is that I am in the dash preview.

For what its worth, I had the exact same problem late last year.

We went on a short holiday over Christmas and new year and unplugged everything from the wall socket when we left.

The problem seems to be gone now.

Try shutting down the console and unplugging your XBox for about 30 mins from the wall socket and then plug it back in and give it a try to see if you still having issues.

A good mate of mine has no issues with his either and he, like me, is in the dash preview so there is nothing really different about our setup.  I've given up on the Xbox One app and just ordered myself a 4th Roku 3 :)

yep Iv just started to get this issue 30 minutes in to watching a film it pauses/freezes and have to back out of film and resume for it to play/work starting to getting really annoying now

Small sample size, but I tried watching a movie that I put right on my stream box's hard-drive (Macbook Pro) versus off my NAS (D-Link DNS-323); got through a whole movie without a single freeze.

Will need to test out more with a few different formats to make sure the issue is isolated to my NAS.  It's a pretty old NAS but I've never had issues with it using XBMC/Kodi.

Fixed don’t use ethernet use wifi on Xbox one and Iv got no issues now with Plex
