XPlay (Android)

Hi,

For example, I watch a series collected in one mkv file (all episodes are in one file, duration around 12 hours).
I watch this at night and the nvidia shield with xplay will keep playing the whole file, the same point for my mobile phone device.

And it’s a bit annoying to remember which minute I stopped watching.

Good news for ATV owners:

DironDir was so nice to implement a version that provides an alternative way to verify the purchase. I sideloaded the version on my ATVs (e.g. from phone: Apps2Fire, from pc: adbLink 4.0) yesterday, bought the app from Google Play after giving it a short test drive and messaged my XPlay User ID (settings->account) to DironDir.

Since the installation everything works fine so far. I just encountered mearly cosmetic findings, which are more likely related to german and its famous long words (some labels need linebreaks), than running XPlay on ATV itself.

@DironDir: Thanks again for making this possible on short notice!

Could you take a look wether it’s possible to use the Amazon pin input interface to enter the home user pin? The interface allows to enter the pin without my kids seeing what I type.

I see.
Do you think this options should be for a movie/episode or for the app as a whole?
For example: you can set time up after starting playing or you can set it up in the settings of the app. Which variant is better?

I think for the whole app, so even if I watch on mobile phone, bon=bile will lock after closing the app.

thanks

Thank you for your feedback.

I will take a look.

Okay, I need to think. Anyway I wrote it down to my to-do list.
But I can’t promise that it will be added tomorrow…

Thanks for your efforts.

Yaaay!

Sometimes the ATVs screensaver kicks in during playback. Depending wether I unlock the screensaver immediatly, it returns to XPlay, but the playback is paused and can not be continued. When i unlock it sometime later, it returns on the ATV home screen, opening XPlay will open XPlay in the same state like an immediate unlock of the screensaver. If I stop and start the playback again, it starts from the beginning.

Also i encountered an oddity: I have a library called “TV (en)”, when I switch to the library using the navigtion pannel, press down on the controll to see the letter navigation and directly select B, XPlay closes. If i select any other letter before, then selecting B works as well. This morning I retested it on my other ATV (library content didn’t change between tests): works like a charm there.

How often does it happen?

Okay, I will try to model this with my stick 4k

What is the Android version on the device where you see this error?

I would asume like 3 or 4 times. I will post a follow up on this, once I understood how to reproduce the behavior.

The device is a 1st gen 4k ATV with Fire OS 5.2.6.9 (632552020) and Fire TV startpage version 6.1.3.1-004. On my Fire TV Stick 4K it doesn’t happen.

Hi @DironDir
Have you been able to look for the feature I’ve talked to you about: refresh rate switching?

The first gen is modified Android 5.1.1
A Stick 4k works with modified Android 7.1.2
So I will try to catch the error with a character selection on Android emulator with 5.1.1.

Hi @Th0mAs,

Sorry, I have read about this feature but I’ve not done anything yet with this.
I’m trying to add casting to the app and it gets all time now.

Ok, nothing presses, do not worry.
But I admit that this feature is very convenient when you have quick travelings in the videos, the image does not jerk.

Screensaver Issue:
Regardings the screensaver: on the ATV Gen2 it happens after 20 minutes of playback, even an immediate unlock does not help to continue playback. I have to stop the frozen playback (which is exactly at that picture frame it was last). Even if i restart playback again, it is like it forget the playback progress and starts from the beginning.

On the Fire TV 4K Stick, an immediate unlock allows to continue playback without problems.

Maybee i didn’t realize before, because my daughter was watching Adventure Time episodes, where each epsiode has roughtly ~12 minutes runtime.

Not reproducable anymore:
Regarding the bug when I select “B” from my TV episods, it is not reproducable anymore. Either recent firmware update fixed it or it was related to the content.

Change Request:
And one more things: could you change the numbering in the tv section to the episode number? Time beeing the latest entry is #1, while the first episode of a season is #n

Another Finding:
On the ATV Gen2, when I immediatly stop playback on a tv episode (bacause i picked the wrong one), i can still hear souds from playback, though XPlay returns to the episode selection screen. If I start playback, video is visiable, its audio track is hearable, but unfortunly the audio track of the abborted playback is hearable as well. Even when I leave XPlay, the audio line continues. I need to force stop the XPlay application in the settings to make the audio line stop.

If I find time, I am going to root my ATV Gen2 and install Google Apps on it, to use the Google Play Store on the ATV as well. If things fail, I am going to buy a 2nd 4K Stick, they are like 35€ for time beeing.

Hi,

Thank you for the information.
But I don’t know what to do with the Gen2 issues. As I said earlier the device uses Android 5.1 and it’s hard to reproduce your actions because I have no any device like the gen2. And I don’t want to buy any additional Amazon device for tests, sorry.
Amazon is ignoring my submission (I have not got any response yet from them).

Could you please give me a screenshot? (Here or as a PM)

Meanwhile i figured out that my change request is related to the library setting “Episode sorting”, which is “Newest first”.

On tv libraries where “Oldest first” is selected the numbering and the episode nubers match correct.

Thank you for the explanation

I will check it a little bit later. Sorry for delay…

Hi @DironDir

I come back to you for the option that I proposed to add to your application: the auto switch framerate

I allow myself to revive you on this subject because I meet several problem with Kodi and Plex but not with your application.

Let me explain :

On the Plex application, with the auto switch framerate option enabled, I have a problem when I want to play several movies in AC3 or DTS as a result … When I play the first movie, I have the its in passtrought (AC3 or DTS). If I stop and start the same movie or another (AC3 or DTS), I have the sound that remains in PCM … I have to restart my Xiaomi Mi Box to find the passtrought is enough embarrassing…

With KODI, I have no problem of passtrought, but on TV shows or movies, when I have subtitles that are displayed, it makes me slow down the image … not very nice either …

With your application, I have no problem of passtrought or subtitle problem! All that’s missing is the auto switch framerate option.

It could be cool if this option was part of the next version of your application :slightly_smiling_face:

A big thank you for what you will do !:+1:

Hi @Th0mAs,

Thanks for explanation.
I don’t mind to add this feature to the app. And I will try to do this.
But, it’s sad to say, this month I have problems with time (some personal reasons).
So I plan that in May I’m gonna work on the app for full time and there will be more improvements and updates than in this month.
Sorry for delay but sometimes unexpected things happen. :frowning:
