Right but they don’t even mention these things in the release notes in detail so something like this gets lost and miscommunicated.
I even found myself telling others who are late to the party that some features have been out for a while all the while being completely new to them, all because the release notes fail to keep everyone updated with these changes. Anyhow, thanks for checking and I’ll take look at the preview channel.
The three dots that did nothing in the regular release channel was indeed the placeholder for those settings and you also confirmed that with saying to check out the Roku Plex Preview version. Many of us are now in need of this for DVR but this is a great start. The syncing between devices is a nice touch.
Oh ok, so I just seen your photos of the Android version. This approach is very good news as Plex took a page out of the RokuTV OTA/Cable source + Roku digital streaming channels combined into one interface and more IMPORTANTLY customizable, something that other tv streaming providers have been doing as well. I tested out Comcast Xfinity’s beta Stream TV app and they were experimenting the same idea at the time (2018/2019), despite their attempts being sluggish and the UI being horrible.
Again, thanks @JasonsPlex for showing off what their working on.
This was awesome while it lasted(Live TV & DVR). I had these features last night(2/22), however with today’s tvOS TestFlight update, it appears this feature, specifically, has been removed. or the init controls were rolled back.
Yes that sucks! What the fluff Plex? I had all my favorite channels set up already! The app had some minor bugs, but overall was stable enough for beta. Yes it would crash a couple times but that’s beta!
The Android tv client doesn’t respect any of the customization settings that you can set in the web interface. I hid a lot of channels I don’t use and they are all visible on Android.
I know one employee that I think will tell us what’s going on. HI @BigWheel so last night the Plex gods surprised us with an amazing update on the guide with favorite channels ( we have waited years) as you see in the pictures above. Then all of a sudden today it’s gone. Is this going to be the same thing as what happened last time you guys tried favorite channels about a year ago on the regular Plex live TV and then removed it? Are we not worthy beta testers? Or is this something we can have back soon? It seem to be pretty stable. Thank you!
Completely aside, is there any chance you guys can up the channel scrolling speed for android tv? Its horrendously slow, and it should be a chore to scroll through your tv channels…
I got ripped thumb muscles as I learnt to click on the remote lightning fast which makes the guide super fast. Last night I learned to set my favorite channels and never had to do that again I thought
I see the new DVR / Plex live TV combo now which is cool. I see it on latest Android tv beta.
Still no way to hide channels in the main Plex live TV channel list. I hid them in the web settings but those settings are ignored. Would be nice to be able to hide channels in the Android client directly.
I am super NOT a fan of this combined experience. Unless I’m missing something, it’s taking me several clicks to get to my local stations. I want those front and center. Am I supposed to add them all as favorites? Making the Plex channel favorites harder to get to?
It’s the same guide just all in one location. It shouldn’t change the order of anything. So if you want to continue doing it the old way, it’s still give you that option. But if you don’t you can select any channels you want and put them in your favorite section.
Old guide and favorite channels, both options available. The other ones are my other servers like backup and Spanish channels which I no longer need Spanish channels as there’s an option to find them now.
