So I am trying to share my Plex and get this message

You don’t have any connected servers.

I used to be able to. Is this something that was taken away from us and only can be done with a pass?

If you want Plex do to the brokering & share publishing for you then Yes, you must have a Plex Pass.

If you are sufficiently skilled with basic networking, DDNS/DNS publishing, and port forwarding (LAN networks) then you can do it manually.

How? I do have some experience

  1. You need your own domain name with certificate (CA, Key, and Cert parts).
  2. You need to register a host in your domain which points to your WAN IP.
  3. If you have a WAN IP which changes frequently, you’ll want a DDNS updater which updates that IP with your domain service. The primary redirection occurs at your DNS provider.
  4. Lastly, basic firewall and port forwarding rule from the external PMS port you select to port 32400 of your server (TCP)

How will all that allow external users to get in if you need a Pass? I can’t even invite them

This needs to get mitigated first.

on how to bring the server back under control.

This is the prerequisite to all the other things, like sharing and remote access.
(Which both don’t require a Plex Pass, btw. It just helps in various ways.)

I have remote access already, it seems to be claimed already, I just can’t share and this seems a lot for that one thing.

Do you have access to your server?
Can you see your media and play them?
