Zero-out Collections Metadata

Now that Collections are a first class citizen (yay!), I’d like to kind of “reset” all the auto-generated collections data in my Library, and hand curate my own collections.

What is the safest way to:

  1. Remove all Colletions tags from Library titles
  2. Delete all the collections once they are empty (because it seems they still exist as metadata even if there are no titles attached to them)

Thanks in advance!

I though the exact same thing since I never really used it and allowed TVDB to create them for me. Now I want to manage them specifically but zero out a collection leaves a 0 movie folder that I can’t delete. I don’t see a way to eliminate it without disabling this new collection feature all together. Looks like some more tweaking is needed.

Thank you!!! That worked perfectly!

Well after spending a few hours eagerly customizing collections I ran into a hiccup. Everything I placed in a collection, even if shared, can no longer be seen by the user I shared with. Had to turn off collections.

What type of client is the user using?
If it is the web app, is he using the ‘hosted’ one
or does he load it from your server’s public IP (which then would be an outdated version, currently)?

iPad is the client

Is the iOS client app up-to-date?

Yes, app and iOS are the latest available on the iPad Air used for this. The individual movies shared not a part of a collection showed on the user’s list but all the shared movies I had added to a collection were no longer present. Verified the movie itself remained shared. Tried to see if the collection itself needed to be shared but couldn’t find that as an option. Disabling collections immediately restored all the individually shared movies for the user. Sharing all movies also displayed collections properly. Only a problem when individual movies are shared if tagged as part of a collection and option to hide movies in a collection is chosen. Did not yet try to see if show movies Ima collection worked yet.

Which one is the latest available for the iPad Air?

Currently on iOS 11.2.1 and it says it’s up to date

OK, this has been reproduced and confirmed as a bug.

It appears, this hits if you don’t use ‘age ratings’ but ‘Labels’ to define what your shared users are allowed to see.
