Server Version#: 1.32.1.6999
Very few episodes are added, metadata from many episodes have been removed by the media scanner after updating to this release. Movies and Music work as before.
2 full logs added.

The first is using a call from Plex Autoscan (GitHub - l3uddz/plex_autoscan: Script to assist sonarr/radarr with plex imports. Will only scan the folder that has been imported, instead of the whole library section.), and the second log is a full scan of the TV library.
Rolling back to 1.31.3.6868 solved everything.
Can you provide some specific examples of episodes you added but which were missing from the scans?
These are the targeted files during the first scan/log:
\10.0.0.49\Media\Video\TV\Series\Mike Judge’s Beavis and Butt-Head (2022)\Season 2
Mike.Judges.Beavis.and.Butt-Head.S02E01.1080p.WEB.h264-EDITH.mkv

For the second scan/log, the above were targeted as were the examples below:

As I mentioned in the other threads:
The most recently added Show/episodes shown by my players are from saturday 20th april. This seems to be connected to the Plex update (1.32.1.6954) that sunday.
PMS: Windows 10 21H2 / PMS Version 1.32.1.6954
Player1: Windows 10 / Plex Web Version 4.100.1
Player2: Windows 10 / Plex Web Version 4.100.1
Player 3: Xiaomi Mi S box with Android TV /
Things I tested
- I verified the existence of the files and folders, and that my libraries were pointing to these
- I re-scanned my libraries, optimised the database, to no effect
- I created a new folder and a new library pointing to it. I then copied a few shows to this new folder. The shows disappeared from the old library, as expected, but do not appear in the new library.
- On a whim, for the test library, I changed the scanner (via the Library > Advanced window) from “Plex TV Series” to “Plex Series Scanner” and then the shows I copied show up. (Side note: when I try to revert back to the default “Plex Series Scanner” setting it tells me my changes cannot be saved, unless I select a different agent.)
All my files are on local drives.
Just now installed PMS beta Version 1.32.1.6999, and updated Windows 10 on my Plex machine to 22H2, but this does not solve the issue.
@PolliSoft can you post the add folder section of your edit library?
edit: can you Plex Dance season 2 of Mike Judge’s Beavis and Butt-Head ? I dont know if your auto scan script caused a glitch or not.
Attached is the add folder section.
Regarding the Plex dance request, is it Ok if I reproduce it on a new install on a different computer, as I have now reverted back to 1.30.x version that works perfectly both with and without the auto scan script? I would like to not have to lose half my library again by going back to 1.32.1.6999 including intro detection. If it is, I’ll do a full scan on a the same folder structure and enable verbose logging.
Sure but please do NOT enable verbose logging.
Understood.
I will try to get time to do this tomorrow.
New install, set up to get TV shows from \10.0.0.49\Media\Temp\Series\ which only includes Season 1 and Season 2 in the directory “Mike Judge’s Beavis and Butt-Head (2022)”, with a total of 29 episodes.
Logs attached,
Plex Media Server Logs_2023-05-03_17-39-00.zip (147.9 KB)
, with the result of only adding 1 episode, S01E02.
I seem to have the exact same issue on a server running 1.32.1.6999. Everything was working great until a week or two ago, started noticing that new (episodes for) TV shows were not added to Plex anymore. Movies were fine. Didn’t have time to look into it until a couple of days ago, have been trying every trick that I saw mentioned in forums etc (move files around, empty trashcan for library, used a tool that just sets file change date on episode files, copied files to another disk, restarted Plex server, etc etc). Nothing seems to help. Logs do mention the episodes that I’m missing, so it’s not like it can’t see the files:

This part of the log mentions for example “Citadel” (2 episodes) & “Succession season 4” (6 episodes), both of which are not showing up in Plex web.
Let me know if it’s useful for me to attach logs.
its the new TV Series scanner/agents that is faulty… the old legacy ones work fine
I assume all of you are adding the media storage per network share or DrivePool, right?
Correct, mine is mapped towards an Unraid share on the same LAN as the Plex server. The share is not mapped in Windows, I’m using UNC mapping towards the Unraid IP.
An immediate workaround is to disable the SMB(v1) protocol on the file server and use NFS instead.
(an NFS client needs to be explicitly enabled in Windows)
This and all other cases are being investigated by @sa2000 in separate threads. (like for instance in this one UNC Path not working following update to 1.32.0.6918 )
There were already some test apps being sent to affected users to help and diagnose the bugs in the boost
code library.
This appears to be a different manifestation of the issue that was investigated.
What has been fixed already are errors during directory traversing for the scanner and that fix is already in 1.32.1.6999
Can you do a test please with verbose logging enabled - add a new show / may be to a test library and let us have the zipped logs plus the directory listing for the media being added and not picked up
The issue goes beyond SMB1 and also arises on Drivepool setups
Please disable verbose server logging leaving only debug enabled at the end of the test
Server logs with Verbose logging: Plex Media Server Logs_2023-05-05_14-48-08.zip (355.7 KB)
Library path: \10.0.0.49\Media\Temp\Series\
Library content: filelist.txt (40.8 KB)
Result:
- All episodes of “1923” were added correctly.
- No other episodes other than the previously recognized S01E02 of Beavis and Butthead were added.
- Only 1 episode of Daredevil was added (S02E11), but wrongly added as S02E380, 380 being the episode name.
I’m using local drives for storage, no raid, nfs, etc.; new shows/episodes do net get picked up by Plex (version 1.32.1.6999), see previous post in this thread. New movies do get picked up, so it seems to be an issue specifically for TV series. I’ll be able to create & post logs later this weekend.
What’s the correct procedure for enabling verbose logging en getting logs? Do I need to restart Plex server after changing that setting?
- enable verbose
- restart Plex
- add episodes etc
- ‘Download logs’ from Plex UI (or just get them from the folder?)
- disable verbose logging
- restart Plex
Something like that?
Hmm … interesting: I created a new library, pointing to a new folder, copied one of the previously unscanned episodes into it: nothing happened. Changed the library to use the “Plex Series Scanner” instead of the “Plex TV Series” scanner and it started to scan the folder and is now showing the episode that I copied. So it’s an issue with the “Plex TV Series” scanner. Can I safely change the scanner on my other existing library (with lots of content) to “Plex Series Scanner” (and keep my watched history etc etc)? Why are there 2 scanners btw, is that something left over from the past? Is the “Plex Series Scanner” the newer one?
I did exactly the same and have the same result. The old (legacy) scanner does find tv shows and episodes, while the default tv scanner does not.
In my case all folders and files are on local drives.
In case it matters, the drives are connected through an LSI SAS 9211-8i card instead of the SATA ports on the motherboard.
SMB1 was already disabled (default for Win10).
