1.32.1.6999 not adding new episodes/shows for TV

changing to lowercase didn’t work for me

For me I just cut the episode out the folder then give it a few minutes and paste it back in and it updates the library

I have almost the same problem. Upgraded plex media server yesterday to version 1.32.1.6999 and this morning i checked and almost all my tv shows are not vissible anymore in plex. All my movies and music seem to be fine. i am trying to restore tv shows by using the old plex tv scanner but its takes forever. Plex wants to download all the metadata pictures and other information from the internet again.

I have passed this very interesting information to the development team - Thank you very much

You are using both default scanner and agent - Plex TV Series ? for both the Scanner and Agent for the libraries concerned? - Library Advanced Settings

and Episode Ordering - the default of The Movie Database ?

and any non default advanced setting?

Thanks for the feedback

I never changed library advanced settings afaik:

(UI is in Dutch, so not sure what some settings would be called in English)

Scanner = Plex TV Series
Agent = Plex TV Series
Episode sort = library default
Episode order = TheTVDB
[V] Use original titles
[V] Prefer pictures based on library language
[V] Find extra’s
[V] Localized subtitles
[V] Enable video preview miniatures (or something like that)
[V] Add related external contents
[V] Enable intro detection
[V] Enable credits detection

(other settings disabled)

Ohh yeah… you’re right… S and E in lowercase seems to be working for me too

I got another strange thing to include. The scanner is working for Swedish content but new English content doesn’t show up at all.

It’s the same for Movie libraries and extras:
Using the Plex Movie scanner and agent will ignore if a folder is named “Behind The Scenes” and will suddenly add all these files as movies.
Rename the folder to all lower case, “behind the scenes”, run a Scan Library Files on the movie library, and they instantly go back to being extras.

New update for me kills the process, I can’t keep it running. No idea what to do, if it wasn’t for remote playback I wouldn’t even bother trying to figure this out at this point.

Hi there,

lately (a week) my plex media server won’t add new episodes.
didn’t changed anithing.
for example:
Young.Sheldon.S06E20.720p.HDTV.x264-SYNCOPY.mkv won’t be added
but Young.Sheldon.S06E19.720p.HDTV.x264-SYNCOPY.mkv was added

i tryed to delete the folder at appdata/local
and now half of my library is missing

please help

Yes, works for me as well. Just had a new episode being added to disk, initially didn’t show up in Plex, changed the part ‘…S01E04…’ to ‘…s01e04…’ and it is now showing in Plex library. By the way, the same thing goes for subtitle files: I had the rename the ‘…S01E04…’ part in the subtitle file as well for it to show up in Plex for that episode. For me, at least this is somewhat workable until a fix is available.

in your library go to the three dots and click manage library → edit. then go to advanced and change the scanner from Plex TV series to Plex Series Scanner. Only workaround that helps at the moment.

Yes, but changing the scanner has side effects, or so I read (re-loading of metadata for everything in the library, not sure if watch history is kept, …), so I’d rather not do that unless I really have to. I’ll do the name change for now, and wait for a fix. Unless someone from Plex can tell me that I can safely change the scanner without side effects?

Alternatively, you can downgrade to the last 1.31.xx version that works fine.

That is what I have done in the wait for an actual working 1.32 version.

We have not been able to reproduce the issue

Could you please let me know what you have in server settings for

“Scan my library automatically” and
“Run a partial scan when changes are detected”

@PolliSoft @PeterJansen68

Both are enabled, as is “Scan at interval” (set to every 12 hours).
This explains why, after changing the file names to lower-case, the changes are picked up almost immediately and the episode(s) show up in the library.

Strange that it can’t be reproduced. I wonder what the common factor is between the people that do have this problem. Maybe different language settings or something? Anyone out there having this issue, but with default (en) language settings everywhere?

I’m a software engineer myself, I’d start looking at the changes in the build that started showing this issue, that usually gives a clue as to what could be the problem.

How do I downgrade? Cannot find a URL to older versions that don’t seem sketch.

So I’ll add that I have the PMS on a Windows 10 Pro English
Region is set to Sweden and Regional Format is set to Swedish
Mapped letter S:\ and used that but also tried the direct UNC path with same result.

The shares are on a Windows server 2019 with standard Windows Share
(Same regional setup)
and a Debian Linux with smb shares.

Scanning and adding new files work perfectly with Version 1.31.3.6868
As soon as I update to a 1.32.x version the issues start and for me basically no new files are added, whether it is on a Windows share or Linux Share

I have not tried renaming files to small letters. Instead, I downgraded back to Version 1.31.3.6868 and kept using that.

If asked I can try and upgrade again and do some logging.
