A couple of Simple Features

I feel like the suggestions I am about to write have been discussed numerous times, since Plex is more than 10 years old and still haven’t implemented them on their apps and software. However, I am a vivid Plex user and I feel like I need to suggest them, in case this time the Gods are listening. Feel free to support this post if you think you need this suggestions too.

RATIOS FOR LIBRARIES

For most of my media, Plex is perfectly optimized, however, I have found that the “Other Videos” library is shown in vertical as the movies and TV shows library. Since I use that library for YouTube videos, it looks awful, and I still can’t believe there is no option available for changing the aspect ratios. This only happens to iOs versions, in Windows the library is shown in horizontal, but the option of changing the aspects is nowhere to be found on any platform. [mod-edit: duplicate(s) → see below]

MUSIC LIBRARY IMPROVEMENTS

Now when it comes to music there is nothing to complain about actually, I think it works really well and they even have a separated app for it (I personally don’t used it since I prefer having it all in on app). However I still think it would be even better if they did a couple of little small things; I wish we could see genres as a submenu on the bar below when you are inside the music library, for now it allows me to go to Recommended, Library and Playlists. An added Genre section would be nice since for now if I want to go to my classical music for example, I have to filter it, which takes time. [mod-edit: duplicate → see below]
The second thing would simply just be the ability to like tracks, and then we could filter the library by liked tracks only. [mod-edit: implemented in Plexamp; duplicate → see below]

OTHER SUGGESTIONS

  • Ability to customize background colors on iOs apps.
  • Ability to add files on the extras section inside a film or TV show page where all the metadata is shown. [mod-edit: implemented → see below]
  • The ability to change Metadata images and posters on files in iOs apps would come very handy. [mod-edit: implemented in Plex Dash → see below]
  • Maybe have widgets on iOs. [mod-edit: duplicate → see below]

There’s already two suggestions addressing both aspects of your suggestion.

There’s already an existing suggestion discussing that option.

You can already do that in Plexamp (setting alternative rating schemes, built on the existing server setup, specifically: 5-star rating, 10-star rating, 1-star rating/like).
You can filter by unrated tracks using an advanced filter – it’s a bit tricky in Plex Web, because of how the UI handles no-rating vs. no selection, to overcome this, you need to click very close to the left of the most-left star (there should also be a suggestion discussing this). On the iOS app, there’s a dedicated “unrated” option but no option to create an advanced filter.

There’s an existing suggestion discussing this option in general → Music: Thumbsup/Thumbsdown

Not sure, what exactly you mean. Do you mean an option to apply a set of theme colors like on the Apple TV or other big screen apps?

Local extras added to your library will already show up in the iOS app for both movies and shows (incl. season and episode extras!)

You can already do that using Plex Dash (separate app).

There’s already an existing suggestion for this → iOS/iPadOS 15 widget support for Plex app

Please comment/vote in those existing threads in order to help us avoid distracting or cannibalizing votes.
As a side note – please don’t create compilations of suggestions in a single thread. This way, users can only vote for the full package which is significantly decreasing your chances of finding others to support what you want.
