Have you tried uninstalling and reinstalling on shield? If you don’t have a server yourself do you have a friend sharing their server with you?

@TurtlePlexx Update to the current Plex client on the Shield. Use the Google Play Store app on the Shield. Update your running Plex Media Server, PMS, to the current release. If you don’t run PMS on the Shield there is no need to update it on the Shield.
