When I try to access my media files in plex I get an error message that reads- Make sure that the file exists and that the drive is mounted. What does having the drive mounted mean? Thanks for any help. Charlie
It means that the hard drive is connected to the computer ( via USB or network) and shows up as an active drive that the server app can access.
Generally this means it shows up on the desktop or in windows has a drive letter.
A network drive may become unmounted after the computer restarts for example.
May I ask, how do I prevent this. Presently in Plex I get an error message when I try to play a movie that says that it is unavailable. Please help is greatly appreciated.
If it helps I am using a synology nas where all of my movies reside in one volume.
Hey,
I am not a synology expert so moved to server section of forums. I pinged someone I think can help with Synology specifics.
Thanks very much for the logs.
I’ve removed the databases. They aren’t needed.
Also, it’s best not to post your Databases unless done privately (protect your privacy)
Based on what you’ve said, I think you’re experiencing the classic permissions problem with all Synology NASes.
Have you tried this FAQ How-To to apply ?
(Important is “Apply to this folder, sub-folders, and files” )
When we get it to find your media again, next we’ll figure out why it keeps happening so it can be prevented
I have downloaded Plex Media Server for Synology Nas 7.2.2. I ran the installer. I opened my media folder in file station. Clicked on properties, went to permissions editor, scrolled down to find Plex Media Server and it was not there. I don’t know what to do. Thanks for your help. Charlie
Hint: System Internal User
I am so happy to say that my problem has been resolved. Thanks to you for all of the help you gave to me. I appreciate your efforts steering me in the right direction to resolve my issue with Plex. I learned a lot.
Best regards,
Charlie
Chuck Pa, Everything was fine for a while until I had a problem with my internet service. To make a long story short, my Plex account does not let me access my file libraries again. I followed your instructions that you listed under Faq 29 once again but still cannot access my libraries. I would like to upload pictures so you can see for yourself what I have done so far. I took pictures with my tablet camera. I will try to get them to you. Thank you, Charlie
I think I would like to know how to completely delete plex because I have made such a mess of account email addresses and passwords that I have used up to now. after deletion takes place will I be able to reestablish a new link to my server? I guess I will have to use a new e-mail account then to sign into. I am having trouble removing current accounts because I cannot find the passwords that I need to delete them. Thank you, Charlie
