Adding another Synology to Plex

Server Version#: 415+
Player Version#: newest update today

I’ve been using plex from my remote Synology. Now i have a back up at home that backs up from my remote Synology. Since my new Synology is local i installed PLEX on the local, it sees it when adding Movies and TV shows but it’s not population on PLEX.

I can see the 2 Synology systems.

I reset my router and same thing, fire wall is not connected.

Can PLEX pull from 2 Synology units or only 1 ?

Hello, i had a shared folder named Movies and TV. I watched a YouTube where you go into the Plex folder and make a folder named media and within that folder make movies folder…i didnt do that.

I went into the Movies file and gave Plex permission which it didn’t have before .

And that worked by adding permission to a folder.

That YouTube video is flawed. I’ve chatted with the author. He now understands why you don’t put data there but apparently hasn’t done anything about the bad video.

  1. Create the shares normally: Movies, TV
  2. While creating the shares, Permissions tab, give user Plex permission to read it.
  3. Now you can move your media there where it belongs.

Putting media in the Plex share is not supported. It often causes complete failure of PMS.
