Admin cannot see server media but Home users can

Server Version#: 1.42.2.10156
Player Version#: 4.152.0

Had big power outage and UPS finally died shutting everything down HARD. Finally got network up and running again but had DNS issues with Windows box. Had to configure as DHCP since a static IP wouldn’t work like before. Weird.

Had to shut off pihole since DNS won’t resolve through it any more, not sure about that one, will prob need to rebuild it. Bleh. All of that is background to my Plex server issue.

When I go to app.plex.tv and log in, I get to my account and I think it is accessing my server but my server isn’t there!? The other servers I can see on the left side menu under More> just fine (friends) but none of MY files are visible. So I tried the direct local IP address at port 32400 and got same thing.

HOWEVER, if I connect as a Home user, the server is there and shows the media files but with an icon that says not authorized. So why can’t my Admin (owner) account see the server and access the files over the web like Home users? The Plex app on my Roku TV does the exact same thing as a web browser.

I backed up then edited the Plex Preferences file to remove my login info, username, email, token, password, and then logged back in and got same thing. My owner account simply cannot see or access the server. Thus, I cannot get into the settings of the server when I click the wrench icon.

Interestingly, Tautulli can see the server and it’s files as I shows the latest videos that were updated recently and tries at least to see if anyone is accessing the server. Not if anyone can though, but CanYouSeeMe.Org says it can see me through port 32400 so…

What is happening here and what can I do to fix it?

Maybe a bit closer to a solution? I saw a setting in the Preferences file named “allowedNetworks” and like I said above since I had to switch from static to DHCP IP address on this desktop, I edited that and added my current IP address in.

Now, nothing changed for my admin account but the Home user gets a prompt saying that the server needs to be claimed. When I tried to click on it to claim it it said not authorized…which makes sense because that was a Home user and not me. But when I log in I don’t have the option to claim server from either the local IP address or the app.plex.tv access.

So frustrating!

So I tried to go directly to http://192.168.1.11:32400/web/index.html and then select my admin account and enter the PIN and then i can see my server but when I click on it to claim it it just sits there for a minute and then gives me the CLAIM button again, like nothing happened. So I’m still not sure what to do now since it FEELS closer to being solved but still not. Any help is greatly appreciated…

Finally able to claim the server by changing the IP address of my DNS server in the Synology Network settings screen. It was set to point to the pihole but since that isn’t working properly I changed it to point to the router instead.
