Hi! I updated to Oreo on my Nvidia Shield today and decided to move my database to Internal (User Accessible Storage Location). This appears to have been a huge mistake! It seemed fine at first. I was able to access my media okay when I first did it. But when I came back a few hours later, it looks like my PMS was renamed to “localhost” and everything is gone. It basically looks like Plex “lost” all my data and wants me to start from scratch. I still have 5 gigs of data associated to Plex Media Server App so I’m guessing all of my data is still there. Has anyone seen this before or know how to fix it? Please…can someone help?
Log into your router to find out the Shield’s IP address and then try logging into it locally via your web browser so:
http://[Local Plex Media Server IP Address]:32400/web
So, if the IP address of your Shield is 127.0.0.1 you should enter:
http://127.0.0.1:32400/web
If you are able to log in then associate the PMS with your account again and you should be good to go. Good luck!
No dice. I was able to log into it…but it just said I had an unclaimed media server. I “claimed” it, and it shows “localhost” as my server. I see my old server named in the dropdown…but it says it is Unavailable.
Sorry to hear that. I’m out of ideas but I’m sure someone else can chime in and help you out with this.
Have you tried Settings > Server > General > Friendly Name ‘This name will be used to identify this media server to other computers on your network. If you leave it blank, your computer’s name will be used instead.’
Sorry this comes so late. I never got the notification that there were responses…and today is the first day I’ve been back on the forums. Thanks SilverSurfer for the suggestion. I did try renaming the media server but no luck there. I wound up having to completely set up the media server again from scratch. I don’t know what happened but I couldn’t find a solution.
