After the recent advice, I changed my password and reclaimed my server, but now I’m being told that I don’t have access to the server. I read somewhere that there may be issues with the Preferences. xml file and that a quick fix tool was was created to address the issue. Can someone please help me to find and use this tool? @tom80H perhaps?

@life.without.music.i.cant.go

I created the tool for those platforms which don’t have built-in claiming support.

Synology DSM 7 package has the support built in. I integrated it as I was writing the DSM 7 package.

Here’s the FAQ instructions, with screenshots, how to reclaim the server.

It takes about 2 minutes.

Thanks @ChuckPa@ChuckPa, but I was able to get that far on my own. The issue I’m having, and I’m apparently not alone, is that once I’ve reinstalled and reclaimed I’m getting the message that I’m not authorized. That’s what I was saying about the preferences.xml folder or settings or whatever. Synology NAS DSM v7.2+

It will say you’re unauthorized at first because the browser hasn’t updated.

Hit Control+F5, (reloads the browser)

It will tell you your credentials have expired – OK

Now sign in (the browser) again.

Server (and browser) are back

( The browser .. Plex/web .. isn’t very smart. It doesn’t know you just updated/ reclaimed the server. Hitting Control+F5 forces it to update with Plex.tv which WILL now populate your reclaimed server in the list. It will see the token it used to have is no longer valid. You click “OK” .. and sign into the browser again… and everyone is happy. :roll_eyes: lol )

@ChuckPa, Can I get you to take another look at this, please?

Ctrl+F5 did not correct it I’m attaching a screen record of the ctrl+F5 and the message that appears saying I’m not authorized

shadowfax - Synology NAS - Google Chrome 2025-09-13 14-31-40.zip (5.3 MB)

… and when I try to open/access from Plexamp on Windows or Android it tells me “no music libraries found”

Thanks again @ChuckPa. I’ll be sure to recommend you for a raise :wink:
