I have. Number of tracks for Al Green . I added them at different times. Al Green shows up as an artist but only a few “popular” tracks show up.
When I search for Al Green - I see all of the tracks but they don’t show up on the artist tile. The tagging shows AL Green so not sure what else I should be looking at.
Are those missing albums maybe listed under “various artists” (e.g. if the track artist is Al Green but there’s a different album artist on each track)?
Do you see the albums if you display the library in album mode, sorted by album artist?
Are those tracks show “Al Green” as artist under the track name when you check those search results?
When you speak of tags… are you referring to embedded metadata in your music files?
Keep in mind Plex will only read those files’ metadata during the initial scan. Plex will only use embedded metadata if you specifically configure the library to use it — otherwise it’ll use information obtained from a number of online sources.
When it says delete files from Plex - in other words move the directory to my hard drive or do I need to move them in the hard drive itself?
This seems pretty cumbersome for a tag change … anyhow If I just remove it pointing to my directory empty trash and redirect - I guess it’s not a tragedy.
If your files are in MP3, drop them into mp3tag to look at the properties. It’s possible that there are tracks in the library that have properties that are blank and that can throw the whole process off.
I had a blank Album Artist part and Various Artists tag in one of my files. When I fixed this file, I re-added all the files and it fixed the problem.
If this is a legacy library, you should see the menu item “Upgrade matching”, which you can use to convert the library.
You can check which scanner and agent the library is using, by editing it, then going to the “Advanced” tab.
