Sooo, I have come up with a setup to have my gopro footage automatically converted by qnap multimedia management. The only problem is that they floods my plex library at the moment since them not being recognised as corresponding quality versions - supposedly because of @Transcode subfolders?
My intention
- SD card + SmartImport
- The folder is enabled for auto transcoding (360p, 720p from 4K) - note: qnap transcoding outperforms plex’s
- Depending on the device I play the suitable quality of the same video.
The problem
3. Unfortunately, Plex lists the original and the transcoded files separately resulting in redundant videos in the library.
Examples:
- 4K /share/CACHEDEV1_DATA/Multimedia/Kepek/Dalma Baby/Dalma Szuletes/20190810_121810.mp4
- 360p /share/CACHEDEV1_DATA/Multimedia/Kepek/Dalma Baby/Dalma Szuletes/@Transcode/20190810_121810.mp4.mobile360p_H264_@AAC@.MPEG4.MP4
- 720p /share/CACHEDEV1_DATA/Multimedia/Kepek/Dalma Baby/Dalma Szuletes/@Transcode/20190810_121810.mp4.ipad720p_H264_@AAC@.MPEG4.MP4
The question
How could I ensure that plex finds the auto (pre-) transcoded files and (auto-)merges them into one with different quality versions accordingly? Hw could I automate my above intention? Do you perhaps have a gentle idea to my issue?
Workaround
Sure, there is a workaround to manually match / merge the versions in app.plex.tv. However, it is fairly annoying considering the amount of footage I produce daily.

I tried to search for related threads but I didn’t find the answer yet. The closest one was though (but requires manual steps):
