I run PLEX with 2 music libraries - one on my Mac for local access and one for remote access on my Synology DS420+ NAS. The two libraries have identical content; Synology Drive keeps them in sync via a one-way upload to the NAS when the content on the Mac changes. Both libraries are set to rescan when changes in the The Plex library linked to my Mac rescans whenever content changes, but the library linked to the NAS won’t rescan unless I start it manually (or set it to rescan at set intervals). I’ve checked all settings and permissions on NAS, but they’re all as they should be. I have encryption disabled. I’ve seen some old posts describing similar issue but couldn’t find any useful responses. Anyone out there had this issue and resolved it?
Could be related to how you sync the files to your NAS. The Syno could be triggering the file system events used by the automatic scan too soon, when the copy is still in progress.

I noticed mine quit working a few months ago also. It used to work fine on my Synology, then I guess maybe 2 or 3 months ago it stopped.
Are you also directly syncing files to the library folder (post #2)?
If not, have you verified the number of monitored folders on your Syno is adequate (post #3)?
I’ve tried manually copying single music files directly to the NAS Music folder, but still can’t get an automatic scan. I’m only monitoring 2 libraries, and I’ve made sure that read/write permissions cover all folders, sub-folders and files.
If the scan triggers while the file uploads are still in progress, this can result in the files not being cataloged. Best use a „staging folder“ for your upload to the NAS and move the files into your library folder from there (as per the support article).
See my post above, it has nothing to do with the number of folders plex is watching, its the underlying file system limit.
