Autoplay doesn’t continue to next season on the Android TV app. The app will just sit there, displaying the last episode that was played on the left hand side, but it will not register that there are other seasons/episodes after it and will not continue on to the next season.
This works on other clients, just tested Plex Web. This normally works on my Roku as well, but I don’t currently have it hooked up to be able to test right this second.
Interestingly enough, Plex for Windows fails to continue to the next episode as well, but exhibits different behavior from the Shield. It displays this error message:
Hitting retry effectively does nothing - just brings me to a paused OSD, at the end of the episode I just watched.
