[BUG] Cannot start the new Windows app when offline

When trying to launch the app while disconnected from the internet, you simply get an error message and the app is non-functional:

“Plex is not reachable”

Obviously one would expect you would be able to access and watch your downloaded media while offline…

I also got this behaviour after first installation. It worked fine as expected after a reboot.

I’ve rebooted several times, has not changed the behavior of the app. Still not usable at all if you launch the app while disconnected from the network.

I had to disable the network card, as if it gets any kind of DHCP information from the router, it thinks that it should be able to connect to the Plex Server.

Found this out when going camping this last weekend and couldn’t get to my downloads. The app should work in offline mode regardless of IP settings and focus on weather the internet truly works.

Someone posted in a different thread, that if you enable automatic sign in whilst on the network, that it might fix the issue.

Thanks for the suggestion. Tried it - didn’t work.

Here’s what did work: I disabled the Hyper-V Virtual Ethernet Adapter in the Network Connections control panel. I think the app needs a bit of tweaking to how it detects internet connectivity .

I don’t have hyper-v installed on my pc in my camper.

Check your network adapters and be sure that none of them are enabled.

Certainly, if I disable the adapters, then it works just fine. Though Plex should fix this and make it work properly.

I don’t disagree with you, this certainly seems like a bug.

Puting airplane mode on in Windows 10 seems to do the job

Can someone test this with the new preview release and report back if it’s still a problem or not?

The preview app address the “Plex is not reachable” issue. I have both Hyper-v and npcap installed on this machine and disconnecting (airplane mode) does not prevent me from accessing my offline downloads any longer.
