[BUG] Home screen does not update with recently added items unless app is restarted - Android TV

Day 1 of bumping this thread until a Plex employee acknowledges/fixes this infuriating and pathetic bug.

Can confirm this is happening with all my shield tvs. I have two 2015 shield tvs and one 2017 shield tv pro and all have this problem where I have to close and reopen the app to get the most up-to-date homescreen. Currently watching items will also stay on the homescreen even after I just finished watching them until I close the app. Will not show next episode to watch on homesceen. Super annoying!

Can confirm this is also an issue on Fire TV / Cube / Stick

Happening on both of my Sony tvs running 8.23.1.28053 currently.

Roku build seems to have had the same issue but it was fixed there: Roku Modern Layout, Home Screen Not Updating - #5 by ljunkie

Yeah, @ljunkie is a damn champion - the Roku build is solid as hell and what all other clients should strive for.

@DaveBinM

This is something we’re already aware of, and are tracking internally

Can you explain why this post couldnt have been made in the beginning of this thread?
Clearly we’re all frustrated users who want a response from plex but never get it.
Its mentioned multiple times here that we’re all so frustrated (and more specifically with constant bug reports related to Live TV & DVR) that we are moving away from your software, but yet no response.
Then 9 weeks later, we get one reply saying you’re aware and tracking this now, but no fix in sight?

How can you guys not see these things that are been reported for well over 2 months?

Well, for me personally, at that point, I was just out of the hospital, and not feeling the best, and had a lot of things to catch up on, aside from what had been posted on the forums. I was also off on leave last week, there are a lot of posts compared to the number of staff, and so can’t always catch everything straight away

Sorry to hear about your health. That just highlights the exact pain points that users experience with this forum. I know you are active on reddit too, but this just isnt something one person can manage. There needs to be a better way for us to report issues in a manner for you to add them to your internal bug tracker.

I’m frustrated that I bought a plex pass to only use Live TV & DVR yet it just doesnt work in any reliable capacity. 2 years of it, multiple different devices, and still, as I write this post, live tv just fails.
For myself and many others its like pulling teeth to try to get any response from anyone at plex at all.

I am 100% not comfortable publicly posting my server logs. I know whats in the logs and will only provide to a plex employee in DMs, so lack of response is like ignoring the issue entirely in my eyes.

To echo @alienbiker99, yes, I am very frustrated.

I try to make it easy for devs to re-produce and fix bugs, by providing detailed steps to reproduce, server and client logs RIGHT OFF THE BAT, in nearly every single one of my posts.

Yet it still seems impossible to get the light of day from anyone on the Plex side.

Thank you for confirming this is being tracked.

I know that Plex doesn’t share roadmaps, but it would be helpful to kinda sorta know what you guys are working on… I know it is complicated, but how do bugs like this one sit for over a year?

This is ANOTHER one I have just been trying to get a response on for what feels like ages. I even reference a forum post from 2020 that was auto-closed, with no resolution. Ironically, @ManuelPG says ā€œwe’ll try to get it fixed soonā€ as they work on the 8.4.X version of the Android app. Not sure if anyone is counting, but we’re on Android version 8.22.X+… Still not fixed.

the answer is probably obvious.

what makes plex more money? adding more features/services to the ad supported streaming services, or fixing bugs where no money is to be made?

Meanwhile, a new beta was released today.
ā€œ[TV] Library: the option to remove from a playlist was missing.ā€

I would be curious to know what bug report/forum post that is addressing, etc. It would be great if there was ANY sort of public bug tracker.
