[BUG REPORT] Multi-part content fails with new player on NVIDIA Shield

You’re super duper special with sprinkles.

And you’re clearly not.

Yep. I haven’t posted anything blatantly wrong about bugs in Plex, and then just dismiss it all by running away from the whole community. Congratulations

Nothing wrong with what I said at the time I said it. Things change in a year.

It’s called having a life.
Options are to provide logs and there is still time for you to be the first. but I assume youre as lazy as everyone else in this thread.
Or move onto better options if the product doesn’t work for you. (I chose that one)
So not so much running away as having more than one brain cell.

Bumping in hope that plex actually reads stuff. 1st world problems, but I cannot watch a multi part film like the lotr trilogy because new player has had this bug forever and you removed old player, please don’t make me look for other products!
Regards
Gav

I’m experiencing the same issue on Android TV - latest version.
Multi part movies such as LOTR play fine on iOS and Web but not on Android TV.
I’m amazed that Plex does not support such a basic thing and that this thread goes back to 2019!

Anyone working at Plex could help with this?

I created a feature request, as suggested by a Plex employee in this thread.

May I ask that you guys vote for it?

FEATURE REQUEST: Android / Android TV - Support multi part files

I went and voted for it. However we can actually get this in front of someone who can fix it, I want it fixed.

They say that it is not a bug since it never got implemented in the new Android and derivates plus Shield plus whatever clients. So they do not fix it but they suggest that we ask for that feature to get implemented if we want it. Even though they specify in the naming conventions that having multiple parts is completely valid - you simply cannot play them

@elan it’s about time to get it done finally.

Man, that is completely lame. They broke the function and won’t fix it. Like many of us, I paid for a lifetime subscription to PLEX, and they really don’t seem to care about us.

Not working for me on web player or anywhere, Shield no longer lets you use the old player, so no workaround now either.
Please fix this.

When will this issue be fixed?

A Plexie in another thread asked to vote for it in the Feature Suggestion section.
The new video player in the Adroid (and derivates) Plex client software is missing the feature. It is not seen as bug, so I suggest to upvote the feature suggestion here:

And as you can see in the referred thread, Plex buddies do not know that kind of problem very well - it’s definitely worth a read… and if you want it “fixed”… vote for it.

So, Roku and iOS now not only plays the multiple parts, but consolidates them into one virtual file. A three part, 1 hour per part video, how shows as a single 3 hour video when you play it. So clearly this isn’t a feature, it’s a bug in Android.

@anon18523487 – can you please classify this as a bug instead of a feature as you did on other threads?

I really don’t think they care. It really bothers me that they aren’t taking this seriously, as I posted this thread in November of 2019, and it is now March of 2021.

It’s getting a bit ridiculous, IMO.

I spoke too soon… this WILL get to the second part, but it won’t get past the second part. For instance, I am trying to watch something that has six parts… I fast forward to the end of part one and it then switches to part two… I fast forward to the end of part two and it starts part two again.

Can you get me the XML for that video?

Yes… let me get it for two items I tried, both of which only went to part 2.
