Bug : WebOS plex app incorrect menu and not always loading

It’s either a huge issue or nobody care…

This is happening for me all the time too. ie most times I flick back to the app having used something else. So several times a day at least.

I’m on an OLED55B7V-Z, webos 3.9.0-62709, software version 06.00.25 (its all up to date).

Plex app is running the latest … 5.27.3

Would be nice if we could at least get it acknowledged as a bug? @markus101

So far I’ve been unable to reproduce this issue, regardless if the Plex app is the first app launched after starting the TV or another app is started first the app displays the Plex splash screen and loads.

When it loads to a black screen there is never a Plex splash screen that appears or does it appear and then disappear?

My instinct is to say there’s never a splash screen when it happens, and actually its less about the app loading, and more about switching back to the app when already loaded.

So a likely scenario for me is when after using plex, I switch the tv over to a different input or app, and some time passes, and then I switch back to plex and I get the black screen. I’m not expecting a splash screen, I’m just expecting Plex to re-open on whatever screen it was on when I left. Hope that makes sense.

Will pay more attention over the next few days to see if there’s anything else to add.

When starting plex app , a logo does appear for a second or so ,then black screen for few seconds , then logo appears again ( at times when app works ).

For me this issue is totally random, about 1 in every 3 tries. It doesn’t matter if I close the app before or simply turn off the tv or anything.

When it works the app start with about 5 seconds of black screen then the Plex logo appears for about 5 seconds and then the list loads perfectly fine and everything works.

When it does not work I start the app and there is just black screen, nothing happens anymore. (If I then close the app it doesn’t work for the second try either. Only the tv restart helps.)
Then I turn off and on the tv and Plex loads fine again.

I also suffer the black screen issue. Not always, about one in three times. I am experiencing it on a Bang & Olufsen TV (LG panel and modified webos 3).

Force closing the app and restarting helps.

In my case watching live tv over hdmi first and then swiching to Plex after 10-20 seconds never causes black screen. It looks like the issue is with starting the app before anything else is done on the TV.

It is rather annoying so a fix would be appreciated. The issues started about 3-4 weeks ago… Before then never an issue.

Only happens when the plex app is the first thing started on the tv. Never happens when I switch from my live tv provider to plex. When it happens (1 in three times about) no splash screen, just black. Manually terminating the app and restarting fixes the issue 100% of the time.

Just had happen after switching from live tv in latest version 5.28.2

In my experience I will open the app and the Plex logo appears, then the screen turns black and never loads.

If I turn of the tv, give it a few seconds, turn it back on, then try again I get the logo, it disappears, then after a few seconds it returns and finally loads.

Black screen every other time app is opened. Getting silly now.

Indeed, it starts to be really annoying!

It is getting worse with version 5.28.2 Now also
hangs after switching from live tv to plex. VERY annoying…

App 5.28.2 - problem with black screen still exists . Also noticed , app loads correctly if started only once per 24hrs . Lets say each day only once at same time ,and exit plex after watching .

New version, 5.29.1, looking promising, so far…

better, but still not fixed

For me, the issue is still the same in version 5.29.1.

For me the same - 5.29.1 not fixed black screen .

5.29.1 does not fix the issue for me as well.

Is this issue being investigated? Is there anything that we can do (provide more info, etc) to help?
