[Bugs] PLEX Player 3.84.2 - Samsung Tizen 2.4.0 - 2016 TVs ☞ ONLY!

Is this version (3.84.2 on a Samsung UE55KS9000 running from Media Server 1.14.1.5488) meant to look very different from previous updates and the actual preview screen shots on the Samsung Apps screen?

Mine Plex now seems to have reverted to a very clunky (I’m assuming older) look and feel, no longer showing my media groups by their folder names, but now “programmes”, “videos” etc . Technically it seems to work with no black screen or playback issues. Just this terrible “new” UI? Please tell me the slick UI I love from the preview screen shots is returning?!

So when can we play plex??? Need 3.3.4 back it’s been 4 days with out it…Kids want to watch movies ( cartoons )

Hello, getting a black screen with loads of code every time i restart the samsung tv. A fresh reinstall of everything works only until i turn of the tv. Next time i turn the tv on Same problem again. samsung 2016 tv Ue65ks9500 I havethe problem since the update on the 08-02-19 to 3.84.2 version. the same as this

Same issue crashing with black screen and c ode. Manage to reset sometimes by holding turn off button on smart remote to close all open apps, then plex often works again when restarted, but goes wrong eventually

Now Plex doesn’t load at all, a bunch of text appears on the screen I can’t read. I’ve restarted the app and the tv and it still appears.

apparantly they contacted Samsung i read on the Geman language forum where the issue was raised too. I asked them to keep us up to speed here too. Nothing as if yet. I have this as well - when I open Plex. I’ve tried reinstalling Plex and restarting tizen. Terrible.

Did you try installing the previous preview (3.84.1) version? It could get you up and running and keep your kids happy :wink:

Issue is that the tv says i cannot uninstall plex as it is a system app :frowning:

Lol, try reset TV from TV Settings.

Somewhat comical that the original post says a stable version has just been released, but in all seriousness hopefully this is resolved soon due to the number of models it’s affecting.

I have a KS8500 and I don’t have the black screen with code issue. The issues I am seeing is if I switch between sources and the application, the Plex app doesn’t actually open back up. Sometimes when I turn the tv off and try to open the Plex, it will just be a black screen, or the faded background but the application doesn’t actually load. Only way to reset this is to unplug the tv from power. Super annoying.

Can you roll this back until it is stable. I have gone days without Plex now. My TV is Samsung from Costco circa 2016.

Or offer solutions.

My TV does not have the ability to install an older version. No fixes seem to work.

I get black wall with text 99% of the time. It worked once for a bit, but the UI was barely visible.

Update worked for about 2 days, then switched to regular tv for about an hour and black screen since.

Tried resetting the TV, didn’t work.

EDIT: Can’t uninstall the app, seems to be installed by default with no way to delete. So preview builds are no option for me.

Try the preview build anyway - it may just work even without uninstalling.

I’m having a hard time with this version. It takes FOREVER for files to load / play, and buffers quite frequently. I did not have this problem w/ the same files on the previous version of Plex.

How can I troubleshoot this? How can I roll back to a stable version? It’s unusable!

Would like to give positive feedback but I can’t. Previous version on my Q7 Series played 4K movies as direct stream without problems. Since yesterday’s update lot of buffering or error message file is not supported. On top the nice channel overview in live TV is also gone. Very Sad :frowning:

Same issue for me. Black screen with white crash text scrolling up screen whenever I launch Plex from my Samsung UN65KS9000 TV. Just started happening several days ago out of the blue.

We’ve updated the app for Samsung 2016 devices. The version should be 3.84.3. Has anyone seen the black screen issue still after the update?
