Wanted to mention that I’m seeing similar behavior in the PS5 app as well. Not exactly the same as the issues with the LG App version, but very similar. LG Plex app gives generic “unexpected playback error has occurred” and the settings menu cannot be opened. In the PS5 app, I also cannot open the settings menu and it reports that my server is unavailable when I navigate to my “movies” or “tv” menus, but it does display recents on the “home” menu. If I try to open any of the recents, it doesn’t actually load the media info and no buttons appear on the UI (but it will play TV show music!). I can hit square on the PS5 controller at the recents menu and it will actually play something, interestingly enough.
I don’t seem to have any issue with the Plex app on my Samsung TV, and the browser version is also working fine.
Same problem started for me on an LG C1. I started playback of a TV episode at 9pm and it worked fine… after the intro I paused it. At 9:30 I unpaused it and it failed.
Also, the settings buttons stopped working. I then switched to Roku and watched it without issues.
When the LG app still wouldn’t work, I uninstalled and reinstalled it. Same error, but the settings buttons worked… so here’s the console logs:

The Plex app for your TV is not installed on it. It is just a “loader”. In order to run it, the actual app has to be downloaded each time from plex.tv servers.
Same here. Looks like plex pushed out a COMPLETELY BROKEN app update for LG C19 (in my case) on 7/4/22. Uninstalled, re-installed: still broken. I cannot find a way to re-install the previous version.
PLEX: PLEASE TEST before releasing apps!!! BIG FAIL!!!
The plex app on my Roku Ultra still works as normal, but only my LG can stream my own high-quality 4K content because almost no streaming players use a gigabit ethernet port. (I was able to use a gigabit ethernet–>USB3 adapter to get gigabit speeds in to my LG.)
I am having the exact same issue on my LG 42”. The on screen overlay logging showed an error trying to instantiate a class using a default constructor that does not exist. This is a code bug, please let know if there’s a ticket open to correct this issue. I am happy to dump logs and attach them here, or to a support ticket.
To summarize: no videos will play on my LG tv’s Plex app and I cannot access the playback settings. My videos work on all other devices. I have checked for webos updates and removed/reinstalled the app, but continue to have the same issue. This started yesterday.
(I posted this response in another thread as well.)
Please power cycle TV to make sure it reload the app completely. then In the app settings enable logging to server. then try to play something and get server logs. either attach them here or message them to me.
I have an UM6910PUA. I’m not sure why but it’s working again. I’ve played several videos that I had tried yesterday and they’re all working now. Not sure if I caught an update. Fwiw Plex app has client version 5.42.1 and platform version 4.9.0. Did you guys push a release overnight/this morning?
I also have this problem with nothing working, I’m from The Netherlands. But I wonder if the Plex app is so slow because of this construction? I would advice Plex to redevelop the smart TV app, for example the ones from Netflix, YouTube and StarzPlay are much smoother.
