Based on this new information on how Plex is installed, I have a couple questions that apply to the fact that my wife and I are on a fixed income and have, because of our economic situation, government subsidy to help us pay for our internet service. This means we have the minimum service, bandwidth limitation, etc. If you are downloading Plex every time we turn on a TV and go to Plex on every TV, then you are burning bandwidth every time, bandwidth that is precious to many of us who cannot afford to have the ISP add $10 to the bill every time we go over our allotment. Would it not be more cost effective for us all, your servers included, to put the app on the TV which has plenty of memory for such things? Also, is the app having to download every time we turn the TV off and then back on? If we leave the TV on after loading Plex, I assume it will always be there until the TV is turned off? Load once in the morning and, I guess, burn electricity all day long keeping it on the TV? Not a popular alternative as electricity is not free and is becoming more and more important in a lot of areas of the world. I really believe you should rethink this concept, as should everyone who is developing apps for consumer use that burn bandwidth of any amount and impact power usage. Thanks. …Love the app, have concerns about the development.
Same here dear. LG Operating system app worked fine last night, but I can not play any content and can not open the settings today as well. As a hacky workaround, for now, I am able to use the Plex website application through the TV’s web browser, but it’d be great if the LG operating system application were fixed ASAP.
My question would be how long have you been using the LG app? Have you since starting to use the app have you had a ISP fee for extra? If not what are you worried about? For the app to load so quickly, it can only be a small file size.
I’m only guessing, having the app Web based allows quick updates to be applied, Authentication to your Plex account and adaptability to many different models of a brand of TV. After that all communication is pretty much LAN based with your Plex Server, unless your watching your or a friends Server remotely.
You missed the point completely, thanks anyway.
Why you obviously have not paid any extra…
