Can playlist management be any more difficult? Seriously?

Here is the process I have found that I can use to manage playlists. It is a real pain but it works.

Note: Itunes import alot easier but does not work for me and a bunch of others in the forums and there is no support to examine log files / etc. to correct the issue.

  1. Purchase songs and download to phone
  2. Use poweramp to filter for songs with no genre
  3. listen to songs, update them with playlists via genres ex 80s1;poolmusic
  4. Now you have playlists on phone, just filter by genre and shuffle

Ok to get this to Plex / Alexa

  1. Sync music to plex server (ex. seadrive)
  2. Use webtools to backup existing plex playlists
  3. Use mp3tag to copy genre to end of album artist -
    format string %albumartist% %genre%
  4. Delete Plex library
  5. Rescan Plex Library
  6. Import existing playlists
  7. For updated playlists filter for artist title contains playlist name
  8. Add to playlist
  9. Now you can say Alexa, shuffle playlist playlistname

Only way I could get this to work. It is a maintenance nightmare. But the convenience of only great songs being played without using your phone is essential.

Please reply if you some how have found a more effiecent way. The Plex design team must not care about great music or are not qualified for their role.

They don’t give a flying fartwhistle about playlists. People have been complaining about this for literally years, and instead we get HD Antenna DVR, podcasts and weak video content.
