Cannot access Plex Server on local network

Server Version#:

Synology DS215j

Current DSM version:

DSM 6.2.2-24922 Update 4

Cannot connect to Plex server on the Synology box - from browser on local network or Plex app (web and otherwise) However can log in to the server and view content. Neither can Roku box connect (also on local network. Can be accessed from Bravia via Media Player however.

Tried everything including reinstall. Please help, it should be easier and it’s doing me in!!!

For initial setup, using an incognito/private window, point your browser directly at the Plex server.

Also, make sure you use the current version available at plex.tv. The version in the Synology Package Center is approximately 2 years out of date. The above documents provide instructions on downloading the current version and performing a manual installation.

The current version is 1.25.2.5319.

Let’s see if the log files show anything.

  1. Stop Plex Media Server in Synology Package Center.

  2. Wait at least one minute.

  3. Start Plex Media Server (the stop/start is so the log files contain the startup sequence).

  4. Wait 5 minutes for PMS to fully start.

  5. Manually pull the log files (since you cannot access PMS directly).
    See FAQ 13: Manually obtaining log files.

  6. Attach the zip file to the thread.
