Cannot add my NAS libraries to Plex

In the top left of that picture, if you change “All” to “Servers” all you are doing is filtering that list.

No, just the name I gave the files for old family photos and videos. There are sub folders within each. For example, Archived Matthies Video-Photos is a file containing sub files for Photos and Videos. It could just as easily been Matthies Video-Photos. Within each are sub files for events (Kyle’s 10th birthday, Europe 2018, etc.) Within each of those are sub sub files for the date of the pictures (for example, within Europe 2018>May 10 2018, May 11 2018, etc.) This was the way I got them back after having all prints and videos digitized years ago. Kind of a pain. If I wanted to look at Europe 2018, I’d have to open each sub folder by date.

Understand. The good news is, it looks like I got rid of a second server I don’t need. Now the issue is, how to access my NAS content on the Plex server.

Synology’s response to the Plex problem was to have me enable encrypted log in. This is way over my pay grade but I did what I thought was right, not sure that it worked. Their written instruction was not the same as the 3 year old video explaining the steps. I’ve asked them for a screen share session to check.

I hope this gets to all who attempted to help me.

I had Best Buy tech support at the house today for an issue unrelated to Plex. When he finished, I asked if BB provided support for NAS with Plex. He said they didn’t, but he uses Plex with his NAS and would take a look if I wanted him to. I did, he did, and had things working within 10 minutes. Plex is currently syncing all my content.

Watching him, I think the issue was, I had not “claimed” my server. Once he did that I was able to load content. I don’t think Synology suggested I look at that, nor do I recall any suggestions here to do so. Probably too basic for anyone to think I wouldn’t know that was required.

Anyway, problem solved!

Thanks again to all of you providing way more help than I expected.
