Cannot find indexed media after scanning folder

Server Version# 4.126.1
Player Version#: any

I’ve just been adding ripped Bluray files (.mkv) to an existing folder structured:

/Series Name/Season X/SXXEYYYY Title.mkv

Despite having the same format through 26 seasons I’m only seeing about 2/3 of them on Plex though those that have scanned don’t have the complete listing inside.

I’ve tried rescanning, moving the parent folder then replacing and rescanning, renaming the parent folder and rescanning but I’m still not seeing the episodes where they should be.

Under Plex if I change the view to ‘folders’ I can see all the missing episodes under the one parent, they just don’t show up on the normal TV Show/Title view.

The missing ones include items that were previously visible, so it’s not that the files are unreadable. I can still play them from the folder view.

And no change in permissions either.

I’ve also tried unmatching and rematching but again it scans through, finds the files for the earlier seasons, then ignores the later ones.

Open to suggestions?

Can you please show what you see when you’re selecting the show from folder view vs. the respective season/show listing?

You might adjust your filters to show duplicates - that can quickly determine if you’ve got different files matching to the same show by accident. That’s the most common “missing media” for me anyways (I don’t always follow the naming rules exactly sometimes when I’m being lazy).

Switch the Library view to Episodes (instead of TV Shows) and then adjust the filter to Duplicates:

I should have mentioned I did look there first, but your post did remind me I needed to clear a few things out of there, so thanks!

Ostensibly the folder shows every file in ascii order. However not all files in the folder view show up in the show listing.

Decided to move the show to a completely different folder/library to isolate it and it finally rfead everything.

Wondering if the index got corrupted scanning the directories and that’s what caused it. But sorted now. Until the next time…

If it’s a database thing you’re worried about, you might try the DBRepair utility: GitHub - ChuckPa/PlexDBRepair: Database repair utility for Plex Media Server databases (details here: PlexDBRepair development)

Sometimes if you’ve been moving a few things around a Plex Dance is necessary too.
