Can't claim Plex Media Server

Server Version#: 1.43.0.10492

No matter what I do….right to the point of completely uninstalling and reinstalling my Synology Based Plex Media server….I cannot claim it to my account. I’ve unclaimed it, uninstalled it, created a whole new account for it….everything I can think of.

It says “Click here to claim” but it just doesn’t do anything. It comes back saying it’s unclaimed.

How do you get help for this stuff? I mean, sorry, but if you charge for it, you should provide decent support for it.

DSM 6 or DSM 7?

That usually indicates a network issue preventing the Plex server from communicating with hosts at plex.tv.

First, check network basics:

  • IP address & mask
  • Default gateway
  • DNS - If possible, use a public DNS such as 1.1.1.1 (Cloudflare), 8.8.8.8/8.8.4.4 (Google), or 9.9.9.9 (Quad9).

Second, sync the NAS with a public NTP server. If the NAS time is incorrect, it can interfere with claiming. DSM 7: Synology Control Panel → Regional Options → Time tab

Third, reboot the NAS. That can help “clear the cobwebs” and get things working.

Then try and claim the Plex server.

If you still cannot do so, and the NAS is running DSM 7, follow FAQ 31: Reset / Reclaim PMS on DSM 7 (Not Authorized - Locked Out).
