IP Address of QNAP and Workstation please, as well as PMS logs
Iām having the same Exact issue QNAP TS-451 running QTS v 4.2.4 tried installing PLEX = PlexMediaServer_1.4.3.3433-03e4cfa35_x86 unable to get the server to appear at the web app to begin set up. I have 5 additional servers running on various pieces of hardware all working fine, and even had the QNAP working at one point. I decided to move the QNAP to on off site location for redundancy purposes, and ended up completely wiping it because its purpose was to run an additional PLEX server which I have had no luck configuring. at this point, I have a QNAP with 16TB of HHDs that have been completely formatted and have reset the QNAP to factory. Starting from scratch to get this right. as I canāt seem to get PLEX to come up to begin the configuration⦠any help would be greatly appreciated.

When I setup plex on my QNAP I didnāt get any configuration options until I accessed from my local LAN despite forwarding 32400 to my NAS and enabling remote access.
@eckoryan@gmail.com The bad thing about picking old posts is that your issue may be completely different from others, and all that participated are receiving alerts that are not related to their problem, and this may confuse them. Next time please open your own thread.
Having said so, since your QNAP is off-site, for the initial parametrization you need to establish a tunnel, as explainned here (On a Different Network)

I apologize, I should have been more clear. though the location of the QNAP is not at the same location as the other servers (5) located in different buildings I own, I AM at the location of the QNAP , on the same LAN/Subnet accessing the NAS from a mac mini that also runs a PLEX server. The QNAP has been setup with one eth on local LAN (attempting to configure locally) and one eth directly on WAN (attempted configure remotely) . i have had no luck either way.
You canāt have both NICās connected unless you are using port-trunking and LACP (pls see Q21 in the FAQ). This a known, although badly documented, PMS limitation (in my opinion a bug).
Please disconnect all ethernet cables from the QNAP except one (that should be connected to a router or a switch), wait one minute, stop and then start PMS, it should be accessible.

Iāll try thatā¦

Ok So still no luck . only one NIC plugged in . and still not showing up in the web app, also have in the past tried port trunking, and service binding, with still no luckā¦
IP addresses of PMS and OSX, please. It has been reported by another user that certain IP ranges can cause problems. In principle you should only use private ranges (source):
10.0.0.0 ā 10.255.255.255
172.16.0.0 ā 172.31.255.255
192.168.0.0 ā 192.168.255.255
In your browser you should access PMS using http://10.100.10.100:32400/web/index.html (replacing 10.100.10.100 with the IP address of QNAP)

The internal IP is set to 30.0.0.1/24 the QNAP is on 30.0.0.4 . the OSX is on 30.0.0.5 . and I would be happy to give you outside access if you want to take a look
Can you change the IP ? One way of knowing if this is the problem is to ssh into your NAS and, using linux commands, browse the Plex log file, it can have a message saying that the network was not identified as private.

I can change the IP range but I canāt use the 10.0 range as its in use by a different subnet. as far as ssh . Iāll give it a shot
A subnet with the whole 10.x range ? 16 777 216 addresses in use ? Wow⦠Or is it 10.0.x range (65 536 addresses) ? The 10.x range has so many addresses that even the largest building in the world will not use them all.

Itās on a LARGE complicated network at the moment, controlled by a pfsense box, my plan was to configure plex, then move the connections of the QNAP to their own IP (trunked) Directly to WAN . the initial setup is fiber with 16 independent IPs , one of witch is used by the Pfsense, split into three separate subnets/networks , One for the office in the 10.0 range, one for guests in the 192.168 range, one for an existing Plex instal in the 30.0 range (attached the QNAP to this for initial setup) then move the configuration (Unplug from Pfsense , replug directly into fiber switch with dedicated IP)
would the 10.10.10.x work?
yes, of course
See this post
@moody_blue
well Iāll be Damned! it worked! youāre a life saver! Thank you, Thank you, Thank you!
Excelent. Thanks for letting us know. Happy Plexing !
Cannot get plex to load on my qnap451+. I installed from app store and got the message below. Uninstalled and went to plex and installed manually. Got the same message. I can load file to the NAS. I have removed the window fire walls , gave permissions to widow for the browser. Tried using Chrome as the browser same results. What am I missing.
