Does anybody know how to change this from a 15 to a 12?
Have tried and tried to no avail to get remote access working and have no success. I factory reset my Orbi, my windows PC, built a new server and still cannot get it to work. Has something major been changed?
Your public IP isnt something you can change yourself. What does https://canyouseeme.org/ show as your IP?
Ahh, you’re right. That is my public IP
I have been struggling with this remote access for over a week now. Can someone please help me? I feel pretty defeated. Nobody can access my server. I have tried reading through the support pages, following YouTube tutorials, everything.
Let’s start here and share the individual findings / output of it‘s still failing.
It will show green for 10 seconds then go to unavailable. I am so frustrated. It should not be this complicated.
It’s not complicated, unless you’re running into a wall.
The status switching to red after a few seconds just means Plex took that amount of time to test your remote access setup (and failing to establish a remote connection).
Have you already verified your forwarded port is visible/accessible from outside your home network? You should be able to test this using a service like canyouseeme.org
If it’s not working… try a different public port. Some ISPs might be blocking certain ports (go for a random port in the range from 10000 to 50000, or a known port like 8080).
As per the guide… if that’s also not working, there’s likely some interference by your ISP (e.g. blocking ports or certain traffic) — with that, your best shot is to reach out to them for further guidance.
I guess that I don’t really understand how to use the canyouseeme.org tool. so when I am outside of my network, I open it and use the port 34200 or whatever it is? But how do I edit it to use my home IP address??
I have been stuck for a week or so now and not getting a lot of responses on these forums. It’s beginning to make me want to explore other options which is frustrating.
You actually need to use it from inside your home network.
Basically, their page recognizes your public IP and tests if it can reach the specified port. Given their page is doing this from their backend, this test happens outside your network.
Make sure to use the public port specified in your port forward (currently you’re using 32400 for the internal and external port; this gets relevant if you use a different public port).
Side note:
If the public IP recognized by canyouseeme.org doesn’t match the public IP assigned to your router, your ISP might have placed you inside a CGNAT. In that case your router has no publicly routable IP and cannot be reached directly from outside your home network, basically blocking you from using Plex‘s remote access. Some ISPs make exceptions from that CGNAT setup — often at a cost by selling you a static public IP.
See above…
I think this topic is a duplicate of this one:
Both boil down to remote access issues.
I spoke to AT&T and they did some troubleshooting. Determined there is nothing that should be blocking a port or anything like that. I tried turning on my Orbi’s UPnP and using the port specified there. We’ll see if it works.
Does AT&T provide their own modem/router combo? Is there any AT&T-provided equipment between your Orbi router and the Internet?
It’s just the equipment that brings the fiber to the house and from there it goes to my Netgear Orbi router and out to the 3 satellites I have.
Are you typing the port wrong? Plex port is 32400, you have 34200 in your photos and text above.
I noticed that and tried it both ways, but both failed. I tried 32400 and 34200. Good catch though.
