Changed Password, Cant access my server?

After updating my password I am getting the “No soup for you, You do not have access to this server.” I readthis and this and this so I know how common this is.

I found this article talking about the Preferences.xml file but I don’t know command line, SSH tunnels. I tried to access my server with Windows 10 but I don’t have permission to edit the file and I don’t know how to enable permissions.

So what do I need to do? and why on earth would changing the password break Plex?

Update: So I made the changes to the Preferences.xml file and still no access. I’ve cleared my browser data, renamed the Preferences.xml file to Preferences.old per another thread. Deleted all authorized clients and still cant access.

I spent a few days adding custom art and names to my media. I hope I don’t have to delete Plex and reinstall because of a password change.

I just had an email from Plex informing me that someone logged into my account in a location I didn’t recognize. I didn’t use any link in the email, instead I went to plex.tv and changed my password opting to disconnect all devices. Now when I login it can’t access my server running on a ReadtNAS 314 running 6.10.2 and with Plex Server 1.18.2.2041 released on 11/19/2019 with the same “No soup for you, You do not have access to this server.”. I have a Lifetime Plex Pass account. Even when I launch Plex from my NAS it can’t see the server. Haven’t tried editing the Preferences.xml file yet, but will once I’m home and have access to my NAS. Any help resolving this is appreciated.

UPDATE: I followed instructions here Why am I locked out of Server Settings and how do I get in? and it’s all working again!! Thanks adminmat for posting a link. Turned off Plex Server on my NAS, edited Preferences.xml, turned on Plex Server, logged in to Plex via local version of web app, it than saw my server and allowed me to claim it. Now after logging in with new password on any other device my server and media is there!!

Glad you got it working. One thing to note if you use VLANs and you are having this issue: you must put the web client device on the same VLAN as the Plex server to re-establish the connection. Once you again have access to your server you can segregate the devices again into their respective VLANs.

This had me hung up for a while.
