Hi sa2000, thanks for looking into my issue.
I now use the beta program to see if it works better. I can’t seem to replicate the first issue that I had, as now the file (with external .srt subtitle file) is playing via “direct play” on my TV, no more transcoding, which is awesome.
However I tried to do the same, using the PGS subtiles included in the MKV, and I have a lot of stoping to buffer the video, as the Shield is transcoding to have the subtitles. I can provide logs if you wish, it’s really not a great experience, buffering every 30 seconds…
But when I play still the same file, with .SRT subtitles I think coming from OpenSubtitles (how can I actually see where it comes from?), then it crashes. Here is the log linked to the crash.

Finally, regarding my sync issue with my iPhone, I tried to sync again, without subtitles, and it didn’t work. Here is the log from my iPhone, and to me it seems nothing even happened on the server when my iPhone requested the sync

See what you have in server settings agents page - I presume opensubtitles is ticked
Ok I unticked OpenSubtitles, tried again with the sync on my iPhone, still doesn’t work. I looked at the server when I asked to sync, nothing showed up in the activity. Literally like the server never received the request from the phone.

I get an error when trying to convert using an nvidia shield 16 gb with hw transcoding on. I also have buffering issues when playing: the video starts fine and tautulli shows it is using hw transcoding but after a few minutes (sometimes seconds) it switches to sw transcoding and starts buffering. Server version: 1.13.8.5395. I can upload the video if needed.

Also I have a friend who tried yesterday to watch a movie from his TV, and when he enabled the subtitles the error appeared on his screen. Without subtitles it worked just fine. He has a samsung TV QE55Q7F, which is relatively recent, so I believe subtitles should have worked, no?
Thank you. The issue looks like the path is wrong for the srt. It is still referring to the Opensubtitles agent.
Could you get me a zip of the database. Settings/Server and Help/Troubleshooting and then Download Database.

Also would like to know if the srt files are located with the mkv - so a full directory listing for the following
/storage/NAS/video/Series/Jack Ryan/S01/
and partial directory listing for /storage/NAS/video/Films/HD MOVIES/ listing all Deadpool.2.2018 related files
The settings I use are the following:
I did some further testing and when I try to convert the file, this path gets created:
/storage/54D8D96AD8D94ABE/NVIDIA_SHIELD/Serie TV/Better Call Saul/Season 4/Plex Versions/Custom_Universal TV xxx/Better Call Saul/.inProgress/
The conversion starts and at some point it stops with an error and the folder “/storage/54D8D96AD8D94ABE/NVIDIA_SHIELD/Serie TV/Better Call Saul/Season 4/Plex Versions/Custom_Universal TV xxx/Better Call Saul” gets deleted.
Now I have a bunch of “Custom_Universal TV xxx” folders, all empty. I am going to try with 480p and then with hw transcoding off and I will report back ASAP.
Ok so… I tried 480p with hw transcoding ON and it failed then I tried 1080p with hw transcoding OFF and it finally completed the conversion. So I’m guessing there is something wrong with the hw transcoder.

Hi Plex team, has this issue been resolved because I’m encountering issues with hardware conversion when trying to sync on my Nvidia shield and s9+ phone also. I’m on Version 1.13.9.5456. is there a light at the end of the tunnel for this? Sync was the main selling point for Plex pass.
A number of users in this forum thread had the errors when using the OpenSubtitle agent on the nVidia Shield - there is now a fix for this in the beta that was released today: Plex Media Server 1.14.1.5487
