Could not tune channel. Please check your tuner or antenna (DSM 7)

I recently upgraded to DSM 7 on my DS918+ Synology server and installed Version 1.24.1.4931 of Plex Server.

All the Plex functionalites seem to work, except the DVR with is unable to playback live TV or achieve recordings (I am using a TVButler USB device).

I’ve deleted the whole DVR device and recreated it (channels are found), but still unable to make it work. Error message : “Playback Error - Could not tune channel. Please check your tuner or antenna”.

i have the same issue. i first saw it with the AVM Fritz DVB-C Repeater and wanted to setup my TVButler for cross check.
Bis this is not even finding any channel if i search “cable complete (Kabel Komplett)”
BTW provider Pyur is not available in the list for channel search.

In addition i cannot restart the channel search of my DVB-C repeater… if i click on it, it is simply doing nothing.

please fix this!!!

I’m having the same issue on my Synology 920+ running locast2plex docker container. Docker logs all look normal, Plex UI show connection to antenna is good. It is just as in OPs screenshot when connecting attempting to play it fails. Also, failing on all recordings.

I can’t say 100% for sure since I didn’t notice until my recordings started to fail a few days later but I believe this lines up with a Plex server update (PlexMediaServer-1.24.0.4930-ab6e1a058-x86_64_DSM7.spk) on Aug 12th. I’ve installed the latest since then but still having the same problem.

I had that same error, I use HD HomeRun for over the air reception… After logging into HR HomeRun and rescanning the available channels, this issue went away.

I’ve tried many times to rescan the channels without any issue, but still get the “Could not tune channel” error message when I want to play any channel.

Please Plex support, fix this !

Maybe reboot the router? That has also seemed to help with my connection. Or if you are running Plex on a computer, but never power it off, maybe turn it off and then back on?

Hi-I have the same issue using Xteve (2.2.0). Plex sees all and can install the tuner. The EPG file loads and maps, but I get the same playback error message as listed above. This feature worked on DSM 6.x. Currently on Plex 1.24.3.5033-7000, on a Synology 1819+ running DSM 7.0.41890. Please, Plex, take a look.

Yes, tried again with version 1.24.3.5033, same problem. Tuner is recognized and channels can be setup, but no way to playback.
The problem really occurred when I migrated to DSM 7. Under DSM 6, there was absolutely no problem.

Having the same Playback error. I have the WinTV V8.5. WinTV has it’s own software to watch live tv and that is working just fine. I re-boot my PMS and it’s updated to the latest, deleted the DVR and rescanned channels, all with the same error.

Same here with DSM7, AVM dvb-c repeater and TV-Butler stick. All is not working. With the Plex beta in the store it is working but then all AndroidTV apps are not able to stream from NAS since they are newer….

@Plex development:
A lot of people are complaining and since months there is no fix…it all startet with your new tuner setup interface…. I paid a lot of money especially to use the live tv+record function, so fix this now

The Plex update of 1.24.4.5081 doesn’t fix the problem.

Also having this problem using DSM 7 - what might have changed? I am using Docker with image plexinc/pms-docker:plexpass. I have tried reinstalling the container.

As others note - Plex detects My DVR (TSS400 MKII) and install program guide etc. When it comes to playback I just get the error:

I have also installed the DSM specific version of Plex and no longer used the Docker version. I still suffer this problem I believe it is related to recent Plex changes.

It’s been more than 3 months now that I can’t use my Plex DVR after migrating to DSM7 on my Synology NAS.

Last version tested : 1.24.5.5173 and DVR playback still fails.

Come on, Plex Devs, listen to your loyal PlexPass members and fix the issue, please !

DSM 7 no longer supports USB tuners.

Same to me - Linux Plex-server - Vu Duo 4K - VTI 15.0 → HR-Tuner Proxy
with new version 25.0.5286 no fix

programms are found and listed but error appears

good at .5282 is that server crash went away after scanning my “little” MusicMedia…

hope we can joy LiveDVR soon again

The issue doesn’t seem to be limited to Synology NAS. See this thread.

The issue exists since August (at least) and I don’t see the Plex team really wanting to resolve it, although many PlexPass users are impacted and complaining. I am personally very disappointed :frowning_face:.
