Deleted device from plex account, can't reinstall it from qnap nas

  • In the AppCenter, disable PMS.
  • Then using WinSCP, rename /share/CACHEDEV1_DATA/.qpkg/PlexMediaServer/Library to something else, like Library.old
  • Then enable PMS again in the AppCenter, and it should be a completely new fresh install

If so, you can then delete Library.old

Okay trying this now.

thank you,

Hi Dane,

So, I’m not seeing this folder that you describe in your message. /share/CACHEDEV1_DATA/.qpkg/PlexMediaServer/Library
In the screenshot is what I’ve got in there, maybe the problem???

By the way, is it possible to do a remote session with you? I’m happy to pay for the time if needed.

The directory you are looking in is the Library directory.

Did you connect via WinSCP as SFTP, since that’s mandatory to see the real hidden stuff.
See Q15 in the FAQ

And nope, don’t do remote assistance

I was not using SFTP only FTP. So this might be the issue. I’m trying it that way now…

This is all I get. I still don’t see these files you reference.

Man, I’m sorry I am being so much trouble here. I don’t know what the heck is happening. I’m sure I’m doing something wrong but I don’t know where to begin.

Click on the two dots, to take you one level up.
From there, you’ll find the path I specified

Duh…okay did that…now I’ve changed the file to library.old
I’m going to restart the app and see what happens…

hallelujah!!!
we are in and it’s pulling media now!!! Thank you guys for all your help!

Is there something I need to do with the old stuff? Also, while I have you…should I delete all my plug-in data? I deleted all the plug-ins since I don’t use them but I see a lot of other files that probably don’t need to be there.

Thank you so much!

Jason

The renamed Library.old directory can be deleted now, and should be the one containing unused stuff only

Hey Dane!

I’m about to lose my mind here…
I just tried to play the media in my plex and this is the error I get. Which is the same as when I started this mess and caused me to mess with it in the first place…AHHHH!

Do you know anything about this by chance?

To provide a little color:

I was randomly having issues even getting to the files from Windows because it was asking for passwords and usernames but never accepting them. I spent days going back and forth with QNAP and finally did a teamviewer session - during that they “fixed” the issue of connecting through windows explorer but then this was happening. I deleted the device from PMS settings and that’s when I came here for support because I couldn’t get it back.

At this point, I’m not afraid to blow the whole thing and start over if that would make all of this crap go away…fyi.

Thanks again for any help!

One Question pr thread, since otherwise its hard to search for a solution

Gotcha. Sorry…posting now.
