I am using HTPC with a NAS - Synology. Recent the Synology device started to fail so I immediately purchased a more updated device. I mounted the new NAS and moved the files to it.
The old NAS shows as Entertainment(\eWallace) (z:) and the newer one as Plex(\Multimedia) (y:) I want to take the Entertainment one down and only use the Plex one. But will only read the data on Entertainment. How to I get plex to use the Plex drive only.
Thank you
So you are running on the server on Windows or on the NAS?
Shut down Plex server.
Remove the drive letter Z: from the old NAS and give it to the new NAS.
Take extra care that the resulting folder path doesn’t change.
If you now restart Plex it won’t even notice that something has changed, because the drive letter and folder path are exactly as they were before.
Running it on windows
Thank you all - I got it to work.
New question - I want to stop using HTPC and run plex specifically for my NAS (synology) I have a couple of issues that I do not undertand fully. My files are currently stored on the NAS in seven folders.
1: where do I put my already existing files within the plex media server (program on synology) I went to the file section under plex media server, there was a flag that said do not add media here.
2: how can I have access to those files when I want to add media - on a desk top instead of trying to manuver inside plex media server on the synology
3: how do I delete the old reference to the media so my televison stop look for it
I really appreciate your help.
