I ripped the complete HBO Seasons of ‘Six Feet Under’. I verified the filenames were Plex compliant and started watching. After episode 3 I noticed eps 4, 5, 6, 8-12 had disappeared leaving only the season finale (13) visible.
I can use MyCloud to confirm the episodes are indeed there, so I then opted to Refresh Metadata, and they all reappeared - but only for 5 seconds. A ‘bin’ icon was then superimposed on the episode image before they all disappear again - this is driving me nuts as it is now easier to view using the OS5 app than Plex.
I’m aware of the ‘Plex Dance’, but this issue is different as it happens all the time.
Would you mind sharing an example of how those files are named/organized? Too many threads starting with “I’m following the official naming schema” that end up being completely off – no offense, just trying to make sure we’re on solid ground
Have you already verified the files aren’t mismatched and merged with some other episodes? → switch the display mode to Episodes and filter by Duplicates to see all episodes that have multiple files associated.
My assertion that they were ‘correct’ was that when the metadata is refreshed, all the episodes are correctly showing in order before the arrival of the bin icon overlaid on the episode pic and they’re quickly removed!
As to your next point to check for duplications there are none showing that I can see.
Let’s start with, the file names and organization seem ok (assuming, your library is pointing at MyCloudPR4100/Plex_TV_Library/TV Shows).
As ChristianKent pointed out… what you experience implies Plex does a scan and fails to find the files. With automatically empty trash enabled, Plex will then remove the items from your library.
Given some of the items remain in place, this could be your drives take too long to spin up. If that keeps happening, it’s a good practice to disable the automatic deletion option.
