I’ve served movies and TV shows to Plex from a Media Server installation on my DS415+ for years without issue. A while ago (months?), My server stopped being accessible from Plex on my devices - Mac, Apple TV, iPhone, iPad, etc.
I tried uninstalling the version of the Plex Media Server on my NAS and reinstalling the latest version, without success. When trying to install the latest version of the Media Server (1.40.3.8555), I get the message that “This package requires DSM 7.0-40000 or older.” (I’m running DSM 7.1.1-42962 Update 6 on the DSM415+).
When reinstalling the SPK, Click “Install using Plex Claim Token”
This, with the Claim Token you get from the “Get Plex Claim Token” hyperlink, will all the installer to talk to Plex.tv and attach the server to your account again.
Thanks, Chuck. I followed the instructions in the link you sent to me, however, I’m still having trouble.
Historically, I have always manually installed updates to the Plex Server on my NAS, as per previous instruction. What I downloaded the other day (PlexMediaServer-1.40.3.8555-fef15d30c-x86_64_DSM6.spk) won’t work, as it still brings up the same “This package requires DSM 7.0-40000 or older.” message when I try to run the installer, so I was unable to follow the instructions to the letter (ie I was unable to “Reinstall the same SPK version” that I was having problems with). So instead, I just went ahead and installed the version presented to me in the Synology Package Center, which is 1.29.2.6364-7000.
That did appear to work, and the claim token message I received once installation was completed correctly showed that my Plex account claimed the token. However, The server installation will not run for more than about 30 seconds before it stops and shows a “manually stopped” designation when I look at it on the NAS. As a result (I assume), the server still shows as offline to my Plex player app on my iPhone, which is the only version I have had a chance to try.
