Disney Animated Shorts (1921) not pulling season/episode metadata

Server Version#: latest as of yesterday
Player Version#: latest as of yesterday

It could just be that its been a while since I’ve added this much new content to a Plex server and I’m impatient, but I added a bunch of content to a new Windows 10 Plex server that I’m putting together last night, and 8-ish hours later, the only show in there, Disney Animated Shorts, has nothing except for the general show metadata imported, all season/episode stuff is missing.

(Keep in mind that each of these seasons has a poster on TVDB and elsewhere)

I tried the Plex Dance and got the same result, refreshing metadata doesn’t do anything. All of the episodes are still correctly named according to TVDB, so I’m thinking that it has something to do with Plex at this point. To be fair, this show has over 400 episodes in it and again, I haven’t imported a show this big to a new server in a long time, so if the solution is it just takes a long time to grab individual stuff, that’s totally fine.

Two things come to mind as a starting point before others jump on this thread …

  1. You say your server is latest as of yesterday but can you confirm the number. Version 1.25.6.5545 has scanner fixes which caused some folks problems with previous versions so it might be a factor.
  2. With 400+ episodes are all these in a single folder or have you broken them up into seasons specific folders? The plex scanner is more efficient when your media is in season folders so maybe with this number of episodes you could be having problems.

Outside of that its hard to guess so maybe a copy of your full server logs after a plex dance might be good and a directory listing of the files on disk would be useful to check.

Hello!

  1. Just confirmed, it is on ver. 1.25.6.5545
  2. I hadn’t thought of that as an issue, but they are just on one folder, not broken up by seasons. I’ll try that out and be sure to come back with the results. Thanks!

I actually just did a bunch of these. They rely on the thetvdb.com for the data. And the naming convention is odd. So, for Mickey’s Christmas Carole, It is S1983E02 - Mickey’s Christmas Carole. I can pull the actual nomenclature I used, but it works off of the years they were made, and they need to be in your TV folder.

So, my favorite one, Coyote’s Lament, is named thus: S1961E02 -Coyote’s Lament (1961).mp4

Can’t seem to find that show on tmdb. I see tvdb has a link to tmdb but looks like its been removed https://www.themoviedb.org/tv/133102-disney-animated-shorts. Would you happen to know how its named over there as I’d like to check some things with it if it exists on their site.

This is how I have them named as well. I’m putting together a Plex server for my parents and copying files from my server over to a new one. Everything appears as it should on mine, since I already renamed them to fit back when I first set up my server

No sorry, on TMDB?

Okay yeah major oversight on my part, I had failed to mark TVDB as my main agent for TV Shows, it was trying to pull from TMDB. Changed that and everything is loading in correctly now, Thanks for the help!
