Everything works great except when I add dvds with almost the same name only one shows up in plex.
Example. I just added three discs rock & roll hall of fame concerts. The are on the nas and i can play them on my mac using quicktime. Only one shows up in plex. I named them all the same thing except I added disc 1, disc 2, etc.
This also happened with any movie which has two or more discs. Any ideas?Thanks
You might inadvertently have triggered Plex to treat the videos as “stacked files” (1 movie split across different files). Adding a suffix like -disc1, -pt1 or -dvd1 is part of the official naming schema and results in Plex considering the files are different parts of the same movie.
You should see that the item listed in Plex has a longer runtime than that of the 1st item.
That being said… stacking files can be tricky as not all client apps support it.
- if this is separate files and you want Plex to treat them separately, try to review your file names (e.g. include the
Disc 1section before the release year (e.g.Concert ABC - Disc 1 (2022)). - if you actually like the idea of the videos playing in sequence… you might want to consider looking into merging the files (less of a pain in the long run)
